I feel like after all this time, it would be kind of underwhelming to get to the end of not only the remake but the end of the whole compilation, the culmination of Cloud’s journey spanning probably 30+ years worth of material by the time the remake is done, only for him to ultimately...

Still fall into depression, still catch geostigma, still have problems with Tifa, still fight Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo, still fight Sephiroth etc. Otherwise even if Remake is the last entry of the Compilation, it’s not really the “end”, Dirge is.

Just want to clarify something important.

"And so the hound weaves the final chapter in this tale of life"

Emphasis on "this."

Like, Dirge of Cerberus was merely the final chapter of Vincent's dramatic, angst-filled, monster-specimen life where he got fucked over by his pseudo-ex-crush who NTR'd him with a giga-chad yet ugly mad scientist. :monster:

It wasn't the "end" of the overall FFVII world or story. It was a Vincent Gaiden and that was an arguably strange place to chronologically end the Compilation. But it wasn't meant to be THE end of FFVII entirely.

The remake was being planned even back then right? I guess chronologically we can call DoC the end but even then, that only accounts for the OG. With Remake having a continuity deliberately diverging from the OG, we don’t know if post-Remake will just circle back to AC and DoC anyways or go in a different direction altogether.

Crisis Core was being made while DoC was being made... and Nomura says he came up with the idea for Remake while CC was being worked on. So more than likley... Remake was come up with while DoC was nearly finished.

This kinda fits with Genesis being introduced... We see him for the first time at the end of DoC, CC explains his backstory and motivations... and then... you'd kinda expect another game with him in it to take advantage of all that info. And it turns out there *was* a game in Nomura's head that just... never got made.

He better show up in Intergrade...

See, here's a great example of what I've been saying for years -- i.e. even if Gackt's likeness could no longer be used, it wouldn't be difficult to redesign Genesis's face into that of a similar-looking-but-distinct generic bishounen who is still recognizable as Genesis.

I've always believed it was possible we would see Genesis again, and at this point I'm genuinely confident we will, with or without Gackt's participation.

This DLC episode taking place in Deepground really is literally... the most opportune and perfect moment to have his character reappear in FFVII lore again, so if they're gonna do it I can't think of any other moment that'll be the time.

So I guess we'll see :monster:

Does Genesis’ model in Crisis Core even still look like Gackt? I thought even by that point, they just gave him a generic Japanese pretty boy face.

As much as I dislike Genesis, the idea that he can’t come back because he’s modeled after Gackt never seemed like much of an obstacle to me, just...don’t make him look like Gackt then? Unless there’s some other details about licensing that I’m unaware of, I dunno.

God, Genesis is like a bratty theater kid pretending to be the kind of villain that Sephiroth actually is effortlessly. He’s basically like what I assumed Sephiroth would be before I got into FF7, and so I was pleasantly surprised to find Sephiroth to be a genuinely menacing villain while Genesis is just...meh.

As long as they don’t shoehorn him into the Nibelheim flashback, I say bring him on in. Lemme beat the LOVELESS outta him.

The mistake is in thinking of Genesis as a villain. He's more of a tragic antagonist (since reformed) with a flair for theatricality. Unlike Sephiroth he has an appreciation for fine art and a desire to become a true hero. He will be very important to defeating Roth in the remake...his heroic arc has just begun.

No, he's definitely a villain. He may be a more reformed and/or planet-conscious villain, but until otherwise is conclusively shown, he is neutral at best.

Just because he wants to help "protect the Planet" doesn't mean he's friendly or benevolent. His goals are ambiguous; he may no longer be a "monster" but that doesn't make him a hero either. In fact, he wasn't even the hero in his own reenactment of Loveless. Zack was the hero. Genesis realized he was the Prisoner of the story, who lost to the Hero.

Hell, Fuhito wanted to protect the Planet too. :monster:

Just because one wishes or says they're here to help the planet doesn't mean it's good for everyone else.

Uh oh! It has a smaller GB size than the demo. Cue the "OMG! IT'S GOING TO BE SHORTER THAN CHAPTER 1!!!!! FUQ NOMURA!" brigade that literally thought Chapter 1 was 1/7th of the entire game when that one leak came out that listed FFVIIR around 70GB in whole when the demo was around 10GB in size.

I think it would be interesting to see Genesis in more of a positive light this time around, personally, but I suppose it's fair to say that the jury is out on that until we get more info. What you say about Zack and Loveless is true, but that was CC-Gen...he will prove you all wrong and become the hero he was born to be!

Well, that just proves I understand absolutelly nothing of GB size. Because I allways thought that meant the size of the entire thing, and from what we have seen, it's obvious that Intermission has much more content than the demo had, so it GB size should be much bigger. But it isn't somehow... So yeah, I'm confused.
