Last Film You've Seen

Chronicle

That was a movie. Im... not quite sure what to say about it.
I havnt had it nearly as bad as Andrew in the movie, but I had a similar high school experience.. and the fact my names Andrew, and.... well.. I could see myself doing what happened in the movie.

Im not sure how to take that right now.

They did do a very good job on the characters tho, and the flight scenes are awesome.

Eh, it was a fun flick. I didn't really know what to expect exactly, but really, the title pretty much sums it up :P

Go see it if you haven't. Well worth seeing the plane crash alone in the theatres.
As a fan of wolves... I can't. I'll be chucked out for heckling.

OT: Summer Wars. To quote what I said the first time I watched it:
Summer Wars

The main thing that got me interested in watching this was recognising the art style from Digimon: Our War Game, released in the West as the first (*cough*andbetter*cough*) half of Digimon: the Movie.

Thematically, the two films are fairly similar, at least in terms of the nature of the antagonist of the film.

I can't express how much I enjoyed this film, my only real complaint is
how the members of the family that came down hardest on Kenji when they thought he was responsible were the ones who dismissed taking down LoveMachine - the real threat - as just a game later in the film
.

Appleseed was on TV a few nights ago!

Man, was that damn good entertainment. Also, finally watched Trigun: Badlands Rumble, which was pretty much like a feature-length self-contained episode. Except for some reason the art got a bit skinnier. NOT THAT IM COMPLAINING IT HAS EVERYTHING I WANTED FROM TRIGUN
EVERYTHING

I didn't like it when I was little, but I loved it this time. I think it's Leonardo's best performance ever.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - It's ridiculous, and full of Nic Cage madness, and Idris Elba shenanigans. It's very obviously by the same guys who did Crank. The cinematography is really good for the most part, but it's rather clunkily edited, which makes it feels like you're watching a PG-13 edit of a rated R film. I enjoyed it for the most part.

I actually enjoyed this immensely, big dwayne did a brilliant job of giving the audience a "less is more" approach to his character.
Despite him not having a big vocal role the movie was brilliant and I really enjoyed the hitman interactions.

The Secret World of Arrietty

It was good. Not the best Ghibli movie tho. There was never really a big change in tone. It was all pretty monotone.

Dana Scully

Special Agent

YACCBS, Legato Bluesummers, Daenaerys Targaryen, Revy, Kate Beckett, Samantha Carter, Matsumoto Rangiku
Safe House

Thoroughly enjoyed it, though at times it was rather predictable - you pretty much know who the traitor is five minutes into the movie. Still, did a good job of creating tension and Denzel Washington is awesome as always and Ryan Reynolds was solid.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
The Usual Suspects

Both great films with great actors (TTSS' cast list reads like a best of British), great atmosphere. Suspense-wise, TTSS kept me on the edge of my seat more than Usual Suspects. In fact, with Usual Suspects, I actually picked up on who Keyser Soze was early on in the film (then proceeded to talk myself out of it a couple times, cos I had read before watching that Soze's identity was a major twist that was hard to work out. Obviously, not so much).

TTSS has a much slower pace, but as it's set in "real world" espionage as opposed to Bond-esque spying, this is to be expected.

If you haven't seen either, I recommend them both (so long as you don't mind headshots).

Kinda wierd, but the animation was really good and the story was well told. Liked the characters for the most part.

John Carter - I quite enjoyed it. It's got its flaws, but it's makes up for them with lots of excellent and entertaining moments.

What did you think of it? I need moar information!

Oh, it's a very good movie (imho). Doesn't seem like a high-budget AAA movie, but then, that doesn't have to be - iirc Fox Searchlight specializes in the less hollywoodish movies.

One Hour Photo is Robin Williams playing a rather disturbed fellow that develops pictures at a local shopping mall, who has developed a certain interest in a particular family - as in the scary kind of interest. Shit goes down when Sy the Photo Guy
finds out the husband of the family he's been following for nine+ years cheats on his wife
.

It's a somewhat disturbing but very good thriller, I'd say, especially the end. The trailer is a bit shitty though, too much 'HE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE HE COMES', whereas in the movie you... kinda figure that out for yourself, in a creepy manner :monster:

Watch it, imho. There's only one wtf jump scare moment in the movie, :monster:.

This talk about Kara / Bicentennial Man / Pinocchio in this other thread made me curious last night, and as it turns out, there's not a particularly good Robin Williams movie out there from the past decade :(. Serios and semi-serios roles do suit him. This particular movie is a ded serios role though. But he plays it well. Jack Nicholson was originally offered the lead role, but everyone already knows he can be a creep, so I'd say Williams is the better choice :monster:.

Thanks, Yop. I've added it to my rental list. :monster:

I actually remember seeing that trailer years ago and couldn't make my mind up if it was genuinely creepy or just plain goofy. You never know with Robin Williams.

As for my latest viewing... The Hangover.

I remember when this film first came out it was hyped as hell, people saying it was an absolute belter that will make you laugh until you pee. Now I have a fairly zany sense of humour, but once you get past the 'OMG WTF' gimmick, there's a genuine lack of laugh out loud moments. Case in point, I think the only one that got me was when the random naked Chinese dude attacked them from the boot of the car. That was it. That's not to say it wasn't entertaining in its own way. It just wasn't very funny and the script was weak.
