There goes my hope that they would use the Compilation for the Remake and I love the Compilation. As much as I'm trying to see if the Remake will be good or not, I'm edging closer in just ignoring it and sticking to the Compilation despite it having ended with Crisis Core.

Well, I was hoping they would still add at least some parts of the Compilation into the Remake, like the important parts regarding Nibelhiem(except for Genesis due to issues with Gacket obviously) and maybe the original Turks talk a bit about their BC Turks even without mentioning their names until some point.

I know it's confusing, but I'm a die-hard fan of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

Who's to say they won't? Why are you making such huge assumptions with zero information on the matter? You're only going by another person's opinion on how they don't think the way the Turks are depicted in subsequent material would be mesh with the OG's depiction.

What does that have to do with what you just said or replied with earlier? Just, chill and wait. We don't know what will be done at this point.

I know this is from a few pages ago, but now I can't stop thinking of "Shinra Family as Archetypal English Villains" concept--like a vintage Alan Rickman, or, in more recent terms, one of the more deranged James Mcavoy/Michael Fassbender roles (I know they're Scottish/Irish, respectively, but you know what I mean). I always pictured them as American because of the ideologies they are linked to, first the deeply amoral practices of runaway laissez-faire Capitalism, and then, once Rufus takes over, Police State fear tactics--the twin pillars of modern American society (as you can tell, I'm a big patriot). However, now that this idea has been suggested...I like it. It'll never happen, but I like it all the same.

I often thought FF7 could never be remade, due to the 9/11 thing (whether America would never again think eco-terrorism was cool, or if the Sector 7 was crack for truthers) and had it not already been announced, I’d imagine the direct and intentional analogy to Trump would keep them from rendering Shinra in HD.

Well, it's just a lot of people don't like the Compilation and I am still hoping that some of it's material will be in the Remake, and I had also been hoping that most of the Advent Children English Cast returned(because no one else can play Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, Rufus and the Turks like the original voices can) but I knew I was in for a major disappointment in the latter part.

I'm hoping that most of them are back and ect, but I'm not holding my breath. In fact, I'm bracing myself for bad news or no news next month regards to the Remake.

There's also another difference between ShinRa and the East Indian Trading Company(I'm now referencing on POTC and not the real East India Company) is that Rufus intends on stopping Sephiroth while using his own ends to rule the world with fear, whereas Beckett intended on using Davy Jones to rule the seas and theoretically the entire world by secretly betraying the King of England to continue his own out-law crimes just to get rid of Pirates and Freedom.

It was just one person here making a comment about Reno and the Turks.... I don't know what you're talking about, but if so many people didn't like the Compliation as much as you said, this project wouldn't even be here. One could argue that the entire Compilation has been a lead up TO a remake of FFVII, so if people hated the Compilation, why were they eating it up and making S-E think continuing FFVII was a sound business decision?

You don't see S-E continuing FFVIII, or IX. VII is the one that's gotten game after game and is now getting a remake. If it's so hated, it's a strangely masochistic type of hate.

I merely thought it was because both FFVIII and IX had good happy endings that there was no need to continue their stories. Like with four of the first six Final Fantasy titles since FFIV had gotten two sequels(well..a short story sequel before the main sequel anyway).

With FFVII due to it's ending and the potential of the other character, it was the oppotunity to continue that world's story...right up until Dirge of Cerberus which it's Secret Ending was left in a cliff-hanger even though it was to promote Genesis's origins at the time more than actually making another sequel(which I still think needs).

And FFX because of it's ending and that's why it had gotten a sequel.

Leadmeskeptic, you and I have different definitions of the word modern, I guess. For me, anything post 1452 AD is modern history, and anything after the reunification of Germany is recent history. What matters is what people do and how they treat each other, not the technology they do it with.

True, but Lance Bass only played Sephiroth once. It was George Newbern that did the rest of voicing for years since Advent Children and KH2. All Lance did was the battle dialogue in KH1 and not much of Cut-scene dialogue. So George is the true voice of Sephiroth.

“So George is the true voice of Sephiroth” is not an objective statement. Think of a fictional character you don’t care about, like James Bond. There’s no “true” James Bond, just actors who played him — some very differently! Whether your 007 is Sean Connery or Pearce Brosnan or Daniel Craig, that’s just your preferred actor.

Time's change, actors move on and SE sometimes feels it needs to go in a different direction. This happened during the Compilation, it's gonna happen after it.

I'm really not that bothered by who does the voice acting. Just let them be good and not wooden. And as long as the Shinras don't have a southern American accent. That always bugs me for some reason. I don't want to think of them as Colonel Sanders.

I suppose. I'm just angry and disappointed that they supposedly kicked out Steve Burton from the role as Cloud after he confirmed to be returning for the Remake and that I still don't believe the new voices are just placeholders.

Yeah...that makes better sense. Same with Cloud, Tifa and Reno, only none of them had any voice replacements until now.

Given how much the internet seems to like to make a comparison to one Donald Trump to at least Papa Shinra, and also given that Midgar was initially supposed to be New York City, any possibility they give a Queens accent to the family instead....

As for British accents, maybe. But only if its well done a la FFXII. I don't want Rufus sounding like Liquid Snake.
