Saw some of the Overwatch story clips today (and the trailer for it?) thanks to Joe showing me them, and I must say the animation is gorgeous. Damn, they could make this an animated series, I'd totally watch it.

Closed out my birthday playing a bunch of matches with my old college buddies, and god DAMN I had a blast. I'm just in a fantastic mood. I can't with to play more.

Every other short had a whole ton of character building but there's very little internally happening with Soldier 76 that it feels like they didn't really know what to do with him? idk

Not sure if you know the Lore regarding S.76/Jack and what happened between him and Gabriel/Reaper but considering the past I think it adds to his character building. Though in a not so obvious way especially if you don't know the lore beforehand.

I really like the Punisher vibe I was getting from him in the short and his body language through out was great (especially in the scene where he has to choose the bad guys or saving the girl).

It wasn't as amazing as the previous shorts but it still helps out.

@Flare. Definitely I really really hope they take the Overwatch IP and do something. Anything. with it in a different medium. I'd love for there to be a movie but I'd settle for an animated series too lol.
This universe is so ripe for that kind of medium it would be a shame if they didn't go for it.

Hopefully if Warcraft does well in the box office it may prompt Jeff and Chris to push for more Overwatch media.

Although I'm not hearing any outrage over server errors and shit - like they had with the release of Diablo 3 and probably starcraft and WoW and shit.

also, netcode analysis. Probably the most important thing is that your client sends 60 events / second to the server, but receives only 20 / second; after that section (at about 8:00), that video explains how that affects the game - client-to-client delays of up to 100ms were detected (at 17 ms ping from both clients with the server).

To my knowledge Overwatch was only pretty rough the first half hour of launch and after that it was smooth sailing.

For comparison Warlors of Draenor was a laggy mess for at least a week on release completel with 10+ hour log in queue times.

So the question is , Did Blizzard get their shit together for once or did Overwatch not sell as many copies? My money is on the former for the record lol.

It only took me about 10 mins to get in and it's been smooth sailing ever since. I played a bunch with my college buddies last night, but forgot to save any clips, unfortunately.

These're my favourite moments I've captured so far playing that shows how just one co-op player makes a difference. My friend Derick had a free hour today, so we joined a group with chat, and played a few matches. This one was against a really well organized quick match team that we managed to beat almost entirely thanks to us being able to chat and cooperate.

Both times we took the points on this map, I scouted the defenses on the point (as a sacrifice) and then had him drop D.Va's mech Ultimate on them, and we came in and cleaned up the rest together immediately afterwards.

Spoiler: I have the whole match here if you wanna see it outside those two highlights from my PoV.

So I got this for Xbox one, my PC isn't that strong yet to run it.

So, I am SUPER happy with this game I had a couple hours ago. Managed to get the Transcendence trophy, Play of the Game, not die, and take down the whole map in just over 3 minutes.

So yesterday I went 28-4 with Tracer on Hanamura. Basically I figured out the enemy's team would find tracer hard to hit. I went on to get a 20 man kill-streak. My deaths that game were due to being bastion earlier on, as I didn't die with Tracer for the entire rest of the game which was like 5 minutes.

The only good thing about being home from the US is getting to dive right into this. Had an incredibly succesful Tracer game for the first time last night. I used the character-specific options to bring aim sensitivity way down for her specifically, and found I could actually hit stuff since I wasn't so twitchy.
Got a 3-man pulse bomb (along with some turrets) on one map where they had bastions and torbjorns set up in a hut defending the point. Won us the game. If only I didn't get a less exciting triple-kill with Hanzo later, I could have had potg on Tracer. [/humblebrag]

I'm also embarrassed with enjoyable I find S:76 to play.

I hate how everyone called Soldier 76 a COD insert.

Before I heavily invested myself into Dark Souls 3, I was kicking ass with him.

But I guess the main criticism is that he's too average, I mean assault gun, grenade (?) and sprinting. He's the only character that can sprint,

Well the first known image of S.76 that Chris drew surfaced something like 18 years ago. So while there was definitely CoD back then I don't think S.76 would have fit thematically xD

That said in interviews Jeff and Chris have strongly suggested S.76's kit and playstyle were created very specifically to make a certain type of FPS gamer comfortable transitioning to Overwatch. I don't recall if they outright said it but they were heavily implying that he's meant for CoD fans lol.

That does make sense, sorry for the late response I haven't been on in a while.

S:76 isn't a hard character to use, so maybe that is the reason why. Personally I haven't played COD since middle school and I don't plan too. I am however trying to use other characters now. Genji and Hanzo are pretty difficult to use correctly and Tracer for me works only if the enemy's team is such a way where they have a hard time countering her.

Basically trying to say, I'm still learning, but I'll get there.

We had a code that was gfycat*Insert the random words at the end of the url here* /gfycat in brackets but as of a few months ago the player was fucking up the dimensions of the forum so idk if Yop disabled it or not.
