Hopefully if she comes back in Part 2, he really will hug her. Maybe, if we're really lucky, she'll become an alternate love interest so we can still have a choice after Aerith has her date with the Masamune. Imagine if the famous Highwind scene could happen with either Tifa or Jessie this time, depending on whose affection is higher.

yeah jairus. i thought this especially as i'm nearing the end of the game, as i see more of cloud's facade-personality. so that's why i had that theory. that very well could have happened with him. even among beautiful women it's the same case.

like when the women sat him down and one of them said "oh look he's blushing!" so if he's like that around random beautiful women, there's no way he didn't try to control himself when jessie hugged him.

okay, "control himself" sounds a bit too raunchy. i just meant controlling his feelings of attraction

oh yeah and we have to remember cloud's face of fear when some of the ceiling fell on her. so yeah anyone insisting he "has no interest" like the YT comments, they're in denial or jealous their faves didn't get this treatment. which i mean, every girl gets their time so i don't see why they should be.

Dunno if you've seen his scene with her in Chapter 12 yet, but in spite of meeting Aerith and spending all that time with her and Tifa, I think he still has some interest in Jessie. The way he treats her here leaves it wide open for that.

And hopefully if/when she comes back in Part 2, we'll get more of that and she'll actually be part of the affection system this time since there's nothing from the OG forcing her to be separated from Cloud anymore after she meets up with him again unlike in Part 1 where the fall from Reactor 5 tore him away from her. Of course, as of now, Jessie's still the only one of the three girls to have actually kissed Cloud on-screen, and that's something they can never take away from her.

as for the chapter i'm on, i'm on like 17 or 18.

but i was thinking about that kiss and hug, and that cloud would have just brushed it off because he was too "cool", but after seeing him later on in the game, especially him be worried and saying kind things about wedge, he must have taken those things jessie did to heart as well. even very small things affect him, as proven later down the line. i know it sounds like i'm repeating myself but i'm just very interested in the subtlety on how his character slightly changes near the end.

and even if cloud did brush it off, we as the audience aren't supposed to. it is significant that she did those things separate from the two other girls. since they are all love interests, cloud is supposed to be attracted to all three of them separately in their own different ways. i think out of all the girls, he's most comfortable with her because (1 she strokes that ego 24/7 and (2 he's fine with being physically close to her and well as physical, even with him bullshitting and complaining. i believe jessie was purposely made forward so you and/or cloud could have lingering thoughts on what it was like with her.

and i don't know if jessie could survive in the slightest after the pillar demolition, but for the sake of the discussion let's say she did for the second part. i can picture them in a small banter that always happens between the two. jessie would say something like "Oh Cloud. You can lie to me or even lie to yourself. But I know what happened when I hugged you that night. I held you, remember? Your heart was beating pretty fast. Lie about that," and she saunters off, leaving cloud flustered and confused.

a reach you say? let's remember there was that dream cloud had with aerith and she said "You have to not fall in love with me" and talked some more, and then cloud replied "Don't I get a say in this?" every girl has to have their moment right? so i think something like i said could happen with jessie too, if she lives, that is.

Yeah, you're definitely right about how he is around her. He tried to keep up that cool facade but she keeps finding ways to poke holes in it and catch him off guard. Like when she catches him smiling after she gunshots Wedge's rear and he acts all flustered and quickly changes the subject. And later, he didn't seem to really be trying to pull her off him when she hugged him, only going through the motions. He's physically strong enough to have easily gotten her off of him, but he didn't, which means he didn't mind the contact, he probably just didn't know how to handle it. And they had great banter during the bike minigame. I didn't notice the showing off, but I can easily see him doing it, and I'm sure she liked it.

And as far as Jessie surviving goes, I'll just say that the ending leaves that possibility open. I never thought she'd have that chance, but it seems she does. You'll have to see the ending yourself to really understand, but you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it, trust me. Ody about lost his mind when he saw it, hehe. Let's just say there is hope for her still.

seeing her glove there gave me a ton of hope and excitement. Completely changed my opinion of the ending. Give us our girl back, square!

Yeah, I hope they bring Jessie back. If they went as far as altering things with the Whispers' defeat so Zack is alive, then having Jessie alive too shouldn't be a problem. I hope SE takes notice of her rising popularity with the fanbase. It happened with Zack in the OG, people loved him despite his small role, and so he eventually was given more and even his own game. I don't expect Jessie to get her own game (though a DLC centered on her would be great), but they could increase her role in Part 2 instead. She's been given things that usually only playable characters get - a developed backstory, a last name, a musical theme with multiple variations, a connection to the main protagonist, reasons to be on the journey - so it makes me wonder if they're setting her up for something more in Part 2. I don't know, of course, but it would be great to see her get a lot more screen time. She just eats it up whenever she's there, and I'm sure SE knows that. It'd be fun to see her interacting with the rest of the crew, too.

you're 100% right on cloud being able to do something about his apparent "dislike" of being around jessie, but he does absolutely nothing. it's what i talked about in my analysis. cloud grunted and pouted but when jessie asked him to lay off of barret for a little while, but he still listened when he had no real reason to. that's why i'm 100% certain he was showing off for her. we also have to put into perspective of camera angles of the bike chase, and there was that shot when jessie wrapped her hands all around his waist. as you pointed out, there's many points when cloud could stop jessie if it was too much, but he didn't even grunt out a single word. obviously the wrapping around his waist is supposed to mean something, and that point is that he's most likely just as enjoying it as she is but as you said, he doesn't know how to deal with the forwardness so finds it easier to use the facade. but in the end even that backfires on him since his walls are weak around her, as she was the one who started to bring them down.

and as for the hug, that's what i thought as well! and did you see how his hand lingered on her arm before using the cool facade to drop it and look away when she asked about the date? and even though we have a choice to her question, it's canon that he agreed (and was perhaps thinking about it the whole day, even when he was with aerith) since he brought it up at the pillar, before she did at that.

i'm going to finish the game today, so fingers crossed on the ending. can't wait to see ?

OH YEAH and some trivia: cloud begins to care about everyone and is concerned about their well-being near the end of the game, constantly asking everyone in trouble if they're okay. but in the very beginning of the game when he didn't much care for anyone, jessie is the first person he asks that to. it possibly means nothing but it's just something that suddenly came to my head last night.

Yeah, I agree. I think he liked how she snuggled up to him, he just didn't know how to show or express it. Same for when she kissed him, you can tell he's surprised and a little overcome, and he's not being cold to her, he just didn't know what to say or how to react. But I think he did like it. In the other scene where he passes the driving test, he tells Jessie to hold on tight. So you know he likes having her close to him, even if he doesn't know how to really say it.

And when he checks on her after she's hurt the next day, he does that on his own, clearly concerned for her. And he even smiles a little just before he picks her up. I read that he has a line in one of his scenes with her that, in Japanese, goes something like "I'll save you whenever you need it." but was translated differently for the English version. Might be when he says "It happens." while he's carrying her after she complains about being the damsel in distress again (though I'm sure she was loving every second of being in his arms like that lol), but I don't know for sure.

was NOT expecting biggs to be there at the end, omg! but that still leaves jessie and wedge in the air....i do so want to see them both.

and as for the "I'm here when you need it" line OMG REALLY???? that dude wasn't playing when he said cloud is warmer to jessie in jpn dub. although, i didn't see a smile...could you show it?

The smile is very slight, but it's definitely there:

He was being very tender to her, showing concern for her and picking her up to carry her even though no one asked him to. It was one of the rare moments when she wasn't flirting with him, too. She was just answering his question. And later, if you talk to her in the bar, he encourages her. She also reminds him of their pizza date if you had Cloud accept it and you keep talking to her.

And did you see Jessie's glove on the dresser? I think that's a very big hint that she's alive, especially since the scene shows the glove before it shows Biggs, making sure to get Jessie on the viewer's mind before hitting them with the sight of Biggs alive. The possibility of her being alive too flows naturally from that. Jessie's glove + Biggs alive = Jessie possibly alive too.

I think it might belong to Biggs. His head is bandaged right in the spot where he'd have been wearing it, and there's no sign of any of the hanging straps that would have been by his ear. It would make sense that whoever treated him would have taken off his headband before bandaging him. Also, the Whispers weren't involved in what happened to him, unlike with Jessie and Wedge, so that's why I think Jessie might not have been as hurt as him since with the Whispers gone, she'd have been able to avoid getting caught in the grenade's blast and being buried. But yes, I think the pencils are meant to represent the trio and that they're still alive.
