the three pencils are definitely suspect too. I didn't notice them before. I wonder if that's Biggs or Jessie's headband.

I think it might belong to Biggs. His head is bandaged right in the spot where he'd have been wearing it, and there's no sign of any of the hanging straps that would have been by his ear. It would make sense that whoever treated him would have taken off his headband before bandaging him. Also, the Whispers weren't involved in what happened to him, unlike with Jessie and Wedge, so that's why I think Jessie might not have been as hurt as him since with the Whispers gone, she'd have been able to avoid getting caught in the grenade's blast and being buried. But yes, I think the pencils are meant to represent the trio and that they're still alive.

Oh, okay. I forgot about that. Jessie could still be alive, though. Maybe hurt like he is, but still alive. I hope so, I really do.

They made it look like Biggs died in his last scene with Cloud, but he didn't. So I'm sure the same can be the case with Jessie. Maybe she just blacked out, like Biggs. Lost consciousness due to her injuries. Cloud and Tifa couldn't stay to be sure because they had to save the pillar, and they couldn't get back to her later when they came back to Sector 7. So they just assumed she and Biggs were dead. But they were wrong about Biggs, so they could've been wrong about Jessie, too.

I just want you to know that these feelings you're having are exactly how Square wants you to feel right now. Yes, there's plenty of plausibility. Her and Biggs' death scenes play out very similarly. Have some emotional last words with Cloud before closing their eyes and going limp. The only thing different is that Jessie is higher up on the pillar, but that barely matters.

Yeah. And the fact that this is what SE wants us to be thinking about makes me even more certain that she's alive. Otherwise, what would be the point of causing it? There would be no need to have her glove in the scene if she was truly dead because there's no way to explain it being a memento with just a single pan across and no dialogue. But if it was left there by her or she's alive, then the technique fits because it clearly hints at that very thing.

Something else I've noticed and which I've pointed out before is that Jessie stands out visually more than either Tifa or Aerith. Her colors are just so much more vibrant and almost jump off the screen. I like Tifa, but she's a wallflower by comparison with her black and white palette. Aerith is in between, lots of red and pink but still not as much overall color as Jessie. And I'm wondering if that was a deliberate choice on SE's part. They could've made Jessie's outfit more washed out, but they didn't. You can't help but notice her whenever she's around because of how much color she has and how bright it is. It's just another thing I like about her.

And did you see Jessie's glove on the dresser? I think that's a very big hint that she's alive, especially since the scene shows the glove before it shows Biggs, making sure to get Jessie on the viewer's mind before hitting them with the sight of Biggs alive. The possibility of her being alive too flows naturally from that. Jessie's glove + Biggs alive = Jessie possibly alive too.

I don't think Biggs knows about it yet. When we see him in the ending, he's still pretty hurt, and I think he's waking up for the first time since the pillar. So he couldn't have found it. And remember, Jessie was wearing both. So you can't find one without the other. It doesn't come off on its own, after all. And there would be no reason to take only one of them as a memento and not both. She had to have taken it off herself, I think.

Any idea what that is in the circled area? There's definitely something (and maybe someone) on the other side of the dresser, and the camera very clearly avoided showing anything on that side of the room for the most part. This is the only glimpse we get, and I'm not sure what it might be. It's just hard to tell.

Thanks. I'm wondering if its too dim, but they are in a dark tunnel. I just had to do a mad dash through my other jessie pics on tumblr and deviantart to update the tags to include her last name. I've done a solid 7 Jessie drawings now (counting the two colorings of that other guy's work) and I have #8 on the way. Jesus, I'm obsessed!

I'm not sure. I don't know much about flowers. But there's got to be a reason they're there.

I got nothing for the flowers. They're presumably fro Aerith's house, but she obviously can't have brought them herself. I wonder if it changes depending on what flowers you pick in chapter 8?
