Most of my PAK collection was acquired at various anime stores and conventions, I think only 4 of mine were bought online.
I've only gone to one game convention, and I'll have to look out for em next time. I just went because I wanted to see what kind of art, people were selling:)

@Jairus now that we got more of Jessie's back story, are you gonna integrate that in your book? I hadn't started reading it yet, because I wanted to wait till you're done:)

Just hold on tight, okay?
so have you figured out where jessie's theme plays in the game, or has it played already and i just didn't notice (am on chp 9 ish)?

Conventions have been a yearly outing for me since 2012. Tragically the big local one was cancelled this year thanks to Covid 19.

@chewbaka its all over chapter 4.
Its that sort of melancholy guitar piece that plays as you walk to her house:

That sucks! I'm not even sure if there was one scheduled for Portland again this year. The one we had last year was cool. I had fun playing the old school Simpsons and TMNT arcade games

From what I've seen so far of the remake, I bet you Jessie/Cloud fans are delighted. I don't think many expected

Jessie to be quite this into Cloud, haha. (Although it did indeed seem that she liked him in the OG.)

Yeah they definitely cranked it up to 11, didn't they. I think at least part of it is her playing it up for her own amusement, she was a theater kid after all. I'm really happy with the treatment she got in the remake.

Parts of it, possibly. I don't want to use it wholesale because my stories (the Lifestream revision and Reflections) are meant to be more hybrids of the OG and remake with some of my own ideas rather than a direct retelling of either one. But I have made some adjustments already, such as incorporating her last name
Rasberry
though in not quite the same way. Here it's a surname she took on after leaving the plate in order to hide her true identity and make it harder for her father to find her. She had a stage name from her time spent acting after quitting Shinra, but she had to leave that behind as well because it would've drawn too much attention to her (due to the fame she had inadvertently achieved during her short run in the theater).

@Roundhouse - Oh yes, we're quite happy. Especially now that she's done something neither Aerith nor Tifa ever have:
She's kissed Cloud (at the end of the motorcycle minigame if you do well enough).

@Odysseus -
Part of it probably is that, yes. But I think she also has a genuine interest and attraction for him. She's honestly really happy if you accept her date invitation, and you can tell she meant it because if you accept it, she reminds you about it the next day if you talk to her before leaving for Reactor 5. Plus, her words to him in Chapter 12:
"I really wanted... to believe that we..." I think is her admitting to her honest interest in him and her hopes that it could've led to something between them. And Cloud doesn't shut her down. He doesn't confirm or deny attraction on his end, leaving it for us to decide. He simply acknowledges hers and validates it.

I'm sure she actually likes him, I'm just also sure she has a flair for theatrics. You know, that Japanese guy who's work I was coloring did a picture of her and Cloud in the play... Clearly this guy was a prophet. I should do that one next.

ooh thanks ody. i thought it was just the song for the area of the sector. i'm so happy this is her theme, although i did think this was hers at first, since it fits her upbeat personality.

but i do like the contrast of herself as a person and her real theme. and it sounds awfully romantic as well....:P

Can you show us that picture, @Odysseus? I can't remember if you've shared it before or not.

Oh, yeah, that one. Yes, I certainly hope it's prophetic. The guy was a visionary, lol.
Actually, having Jessie take Yuffie's spot in the date mechanic nicely solves the issue of Yuffie's age and Cloud going out with someone who's only 16 since Jessie's much older at 22, the same age as Aerith. Another reason to bring her back and let her be there, hehe.

Towards the end of this chapter, Jessie talks about being relegated to stagehand again and starting to think she'll never have a starring role. Cloud then encourages her by telling her there's always next time. I was just thinking about that exchange in light of the ending and her possible survival. What if that dialogue was SE's subtle way of telling us that Jessie will have a more prominent role in Part 2 and beyond? That exchange between Cloud and Jessie might not have such an underlying meaning, but then again, it might. It's something to think about, at least.

Lol I'm gonna refrain from any thoughts on her potential involvement in part 2, for now. I still think she's dead:)

I wouldn't be so sure of that. They showed her glove on the dresser for a reason, and they showed it before they showed Biggs alive. Seeing the glove makes the player think of Jessie, and then seeing Biggs alive immediately after that is surely meant to make the player think that if he is, then Jessie could be, too, considering her glove was just shown. Also, her "death" in Part 1 was done in such a way that the wounds were something she could conceivably have recovered from if she'd been found in time. It wasn't as if she'd been stabbed like Aerith or shot to death by the helicopter like that other guy was. Keep in mind also that Cloud and the others thought Biggs was dead, but we know they were wrong. And if they were wrong about him, they could also have been wrong about Jessie. Don't give up hope. We may see her in Part 2 yet.
Or are you trying to be facetious again? :mon:

you know what would be kinda cool? Lets say she is alive... Imagine seeing her in a trailer from behind... Not showing her face though (like they did with zack) still wearing that other glove while in the bsckground a short glimpse of jessies theme is playing

I have the feeling part 2's trailer is going to be all about embracing something new.
Showing Biggs or even Jessie could heighten that.

That would be good. Of course, Jessie would probably be the one shown since we already know Biggs is alive. But yes, nothing would say "this is a new story" more than showing a now-popular character alive and well and active in Part 2 who originally wasn't in the OG after Midgar.

Good job! Bet you liked the reward, hehe. :mon:;)

Also, I put this together last night:

That would make a good FFVII smiley for TLS, don't you think? :mon:

I tried doing it on hard mode but that wasn't happening. Best I got was the middle result.
That would make a good emote btw.

Yeah, I did it on Easy, it was a lot better that way. And thanks, I think so, too!
