SPOILERS Predictions for Part 2? (*Open Spoilers for Part 1*)

Since the Remake likes to emphasize familiar character relationships early (and topics and themes in general) I wonder if we'll see earlier examples of Heidegger and Scarlet teaming up or at least forming a two-person circle.

In the original game, H&S only became a proper duo after Rufus's presumed death. I bet the Remake will play up way earlier how this natural partnership arises and thus it will be a highly expected turn of events when they control the Proud Clod (or the "Pride and Joy" as it may end up being called, based on the Hard Mode battle) together. Heidegger definitely has a reason to seek out an ally in the midst of all his frustration and dissonance with Rufus Shinra but it's not clear if Scarlet will have a reason to feel the same drive.

Dirge of Cerberus wants the audience to think that Rufus Shinra was never briefed on Deepground. While Reeve's handwaving of Rufus Shinra's awareness (and thus relative complicity) is explained by the short time in which Rufus Shinra was at power, another good explanation is that Heidegger and Scarlet just didn't feel like sharing everything they had with Rufus due to not being 100% loyal. Yes, I know in the Compilation canon that the Restrictors are actively suppressing Deepground soldiers and the full-on rebellion may even already have broken out, but Remake canon could still take any shape in terms of Deepground's scale and status.

This tangent may mean nothing for the Remake, as I just wished to muse on how Heidegger's and Scarlet's lack of loyalty can explain why Rufus Shinra may not be briefed on all of the company's resources. As for Hojo, well, he keeps a lot of things to himself, as Rufus points out in the Northern Crater. :monster:

One way in which the Remake could actually do cool divergence from the OG canon (if we ignore Heidegger's and Scarlet's secrecy for a moment) is to actually have an elite Deepground unit summoned for battle against Weapon. I believe the Remake is not beholden to Compilation canon in such a way that it has to preserve Dirge of Cerberus as "a thing that will happen" in the timeline, so they could easily include Deepground post-Reunion and it wouldn't feel out of place. That is, unless you are really invested in Deepground not being revealed to the masses until three years after the Remake/OG events. :hohum:

Just imagine seeing the DG Elite, and perhaps even a re-envisioned Tsviet or two, go up against Weapon and seeing them only able to cause limited damage to the thing. That'd be neat.

Considering Rufus had no real power and would argue with his father about literally everything, I'd assumed that he'd been deliberately kept in the dark about core secrets like that. In the OG he also didn't seem to be aware that Sephiroth was not an ancient either (or maybe he was blowing smoke).

I'm imagining Heidegger may actually try to stage a coup. They're leaning hard into Rufus' antipathy toward him again, and Heidegger is of both a choleric and prideful temperament. :monster: We've never seen how Rufus feels about Scarlet, but the expression she makes when he takes a seat is less than pleasant. Perhaps a coup would be a fun thrill to her.

If Rufus is going to be nicer this time around, I wonder how that will effect Reeve's development.

Mom: oh I know him! I don't know his name though.
Me: Thats Barret!
Mom: Oh Barret! Yes that suits him.
Me: Do you know the blondie's name?
Mom: Of course! That's Storm! Such a pretty name for a boy ^_^

...now all I can think about is stupid weather-based insults people can hurl at our boi through part 2.

Is there some sort of premium I can pay to have the voice actresses for Tifa/Aerith/Jessie say "Cloud, you nimbus! :@"

(also - she thought Tifa was Shinra... Aerith was almost right, she called her "Airy" which is a very cute nickname)

Do you think we'll get a new intro movie for part 2 that feeds right into the story the way part 1/OG does?

Or is it going to be more like generic intro credits where we just get clips of the characters doing things or locations we may see flash by?

I'm leaning towards the a non story intro credits because I can't for the life of me think what the opening cutscene would be. The Neiblheim flashback would be too long, and the leisurely stroll through the desert to Kalm hardly seems like an interesting opening movie.

The way I keep imagining part 2 opening is on the truck ride at the beginning of the Nibelheim flashback. A stormy night, shots of the surrounding scenery, then into the truck with the motion sick troop talking to Sephiroth, and Cloud butting in. Once the truck crashes, Cloud and Sephiroth get out and then it seamlessly transitions into the battle from the cutscene.

It is not very original, but similar to Re:Make, you have the camera following a bird flying above, only instead of the barren wasteland of Midgar, you have the mountains around Nibelheim. Have to bird fly through Nibelheim, around Mt. Nibel, parallel to the rope bridge, past the reactor, and whatever other locations you want to "highlight". After that, have the camera break off from the bird and transition toward the rear of a lone Shinra truck. Pan through the rear window, and done. Game starts with you immediately in the flashback.

Again, not very original.

One of my dreams is a beggining with the flashback. I mean, I'm 100% sure they know that. They have confirmed seen videos of Max where he specifically talks about it, so unless they jump that part, they know that as an idea.

And honestly, even with all the mindfuckery of the ending, it would still be amazing. Specially because they can put it as the reality, just like in the original, and use the Zack Alive thing to effect with it. I dont know how, but yeah. An idea atleast.

A Zack flashback was the same thing I was gonna say

I feel like opening with the Nibelheim flashback is a solid bet.

I could also imagine something like it quickly jumping into action with the party being pursued through the wastelands by Shinra forces, echoing the intro of Advent Children, maybe even set to a new version of "Beyond the Wasteland." Imagine an action setpiece with Roche and some other 3C SOLDIERs pursuing you through canyons on their bikes. Culminates with the party crossing the marsh and their pursuers being cut off by a ferocious midgardsormr.

At this point I also wouldn't even be shocked to see it open with a whole new version of the OG intro, but Zack hops off the train and everything is different.

Not much of a prediction, but I'm really, really looking forward to seeing Kalm revamped. It was always one of my favourite towns in the OG, looked like a real nice place, if a tad economically screwed by the closure of the Mythril Mines. I'm hoping the locals will be super enthused about Shinra and Mako, as a contrast to the resentment of the slum dwellers in Part 1. Kalm's surrounding area hasn't been drained by the reactor yet, which leads me to believe it's a relatively new addition to the town. I'm hyped for Barret getting on his high horse against the locals who are loving the easy life, it'll be like he's reliving what happened to Corel.
