IMO, does it ruin FFVII?.. Not so much, does it mess with the entire compilation,... it certainly puts a different spin on everything. And it's a spin I don't think the creators intended the fans to feel.

While of course you have them on the other hand stating Tifa wasn't that important and she was just a last minute addition to the plot since she wasn't one of the originally designed characters of the game.

Also about the whole "he only knew Aeris for x amount of time", technically Zidane falls in love with Garnet 20 minutes after meeting her, so yeah. SE isn't exactly super duper realistic with the romance timelines and all that.

He was attracted to her, not full blown in love. Big difference. Their relationship matured and grew over an extended period of time. Months. Not hours.

If you keep picking the "don't go after her" option when Baku tells you to fuck off, Zidane's all like "OH MAN I NEVER FELT SO STRAAAAAAAANGE" etc etc. It wasn't like "man she's hot, I wanna bang her" although that did come later.

You would miss a pretty big part of the story and make Cloud look like a total jackass in that case. Even more than him rejecting Tifa under the highwind and then saying, "Hey let's start a new life together." two days later.

Why are you equating attraction with full blown romance? Tidus and Yuna hit it off, but how does that somehow mean they were instantly in love right off the bat? That makes no sense. You see their relationship progress and they don't finally kiss and get freaky in the water until near the end of the game.

And again...how is that full blown romance? That's Zidane being attracted to her. That's not nearly the same level of relationship or romance he felt for her during Disc 3 when he got to know her and was truly there for her, like when Alexandria was destroyed. Oh really? I saw one of the pinkers first reviews of AC. In the scene when Cloud finds Tifa when Cloud walks in they had something along the lines of "Cloud at first notices the flowers and is concerned....oh yeah then Tifa."

I don't know how you can "interpret" Clouds actions as showing concern for the flowers then Tifa. The only way to do that is completely rewrite the scene for their own fanfics.

Just a small example. But as you know. It gets worse.

Personally I've only seen a few that sincerely believe that, they just happen to talk the loudest unfortunately.

But most of them just see AC pretty much the same, the only exception being Tifa is seen as family instead of a lover. But considering love is really such a small subplot in the story, I don't see the theme of AC drastically changing if they regard her as such. The point remains pretty much the same, he stays with her, he's not alone anymore, etc etc.

I don't know how you could say "love" and "family" were a small part of the plot of AC, when the entire movie is about Cloud getting over his hang ups so he can return home to the woman and kids he loves. The whole story is stated by creators to be a couple in crisis with "trouble at home."

Not to mention Case of Tifa drives the point home further.

Tyrant isn't saying you said that. That's his point.
Even if C/A were fond of each other, there was no real time for them to truly fall in love.
Even T/Y and S/R, the quickest pairings, had more time than C/A did.

Further, another C/A viewpoint, in response to this one that misses the point of the story is the claim that 'Tifa never knew the real Cloud til the lifestream' when she knew he wasn't himself from day 1. Now she may not have known him that well til lifestream, but she knew him, the real him, and fell in love with that him before he got his head back on straight.

To say nothing of their 'she still doesn't know him and sees an idealized version of Cloud' nonsense that they read into the faux quote 'Cloud is her ideal love, his existence yadda yadda'

No, they interacted before the Well scene, Zee. That wasn't their first time conversing. I don't know where you got that from. If they're called childhood friends, they've had to have had interactions before hand. And Tifa states that she knew Cloud, just not as closely as she thought. They interacted, but their interactions weren't as close as they were with her other friends.
