I won't try to argue which is the best. 3 and S&K did have a lot of cool features. More of a semblance of a plot, more power ups, awesome soundtrack, more bosses, and some other really cool features.

But 2 just... I don't know, I just love it more for some reason.

I don't even love Chemical Plant Zone as much as everyone else seems to but it really looks awesome in the fancy graphics.

Chemical Plant...I mostly love the music there, haha. Can't wait for all those rearrangements in Generations.

Also Gamescom footage of City Escape. Apparently there's been some changes but I can't be arsed to compare it with the previous gameplay vid.

Btw, Mushroom Hill screenshots are from the 3DS version. Is it even gonna be in the HD versions?

I am so fucking nostalgic right now. Reminds me of being a kid playing Chemical Plant Zone act 2, and making it up the blocks with the rising poison without it ever touching me. Dad and my sisters wouldn't believe me the first three times, until I finally got them to sit still and watch. Good times.

Am I the only one who dislikes the modern remix of the Chemical Plant Zone music? :/

And also I really hate modern Sonic's voice. Stop making noise, please.

Other than that this game seems fun.

Agreed, new music and voice sucks. I'd go one step further and say modern gameplay sucks as well . I'd buy it if it were just classic sonic.

Same here!! [~.0] I still remember sonic saying "I am still waiting" (It was in Spanish, so sorry for my bad translation), and tails with her little voice..I always thought it was a she but...apparently its a he...IDK
And the games, I remember when I was little I went to my neighbor's house in the morning so we could play some sonic. And when we weren't I was hoping he decided all of a sudden to play. My brother had Sonic 3D which I liked...but can never equal to Sonic 1, 2 or 3.
As of present I downloaded Sonic 2...and dang. I am always killing myself xDDD. It amuses me how games like Final Fantasy or Devil May Cry can't ruin my day while Sonic, on the Chemical Plant makes me wanna scream at the top of my lungs.

In regards to Mushroom Hill Zone, I'd want this stage, and any others that are exclusive to the 3DS to eventually become DLC for the console version(s) of the game. Also the fall part seems waaaaay too orange, need to tone down the saturation Sega! Should look more like:

Don't worry, I thought that Knuckles was a chick for the longest time. Don't know why. xD When the Sonic anime came out, I thought that she had a very deep voice, till somebody told me that he was a bloke. Xd

Sega has apparently joined the effort forged by Valve to change the rules of how long you can go between episodic releases, while still being allowed to call said releases "episodes." In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Sonic Team's Takashi Iikuza talked about Sonic 4, explaining, "This year, 2011, is the anniversary, so we're focusing on the celebration title." He later added, "But moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I'd hope to provide Episode 2 then."
