Yeah, they said something like Nojima made their relationship more obvious (KH2 interview, I believe), but Nomura intervened so that more mystery would surround Tifa/their relationship and they were all hating on the guy, going "STFU, Jimerz, Nomura knows best."

The only thing that changes is whether the team watches them or hears them. Those are the only two versions and none of them are rejections. The Clerii claim there's a third one, but that must be one of those only obtained by the most dedicated of followers, because even SE doesn't seem to know about it (read: doesn't exist).
So one version has them being physically intimate while everyone watches, while the other = everyone hears what they're talking about/doing. And Red + (was it Cid?) tease them the next morning in BOTH versions.
Clearly, Red & Cid hate Tifa as much as the Clerii, because they make fun of her after pouring her heart out and getting horribly rejected.
Not to mention that the high affection = the only one SE keeps shoving in our faces in every guide they publish. Must be because they totally want to push Cleris
I just read the script of the American version online, and a lot of it confused me.
I can see where people thought Cloud rejected her, but then again, I didn't read anywhere that she outright mentioned her feelings for him. Also, can someone tell me what Cloud ment by the following statements:

I guess being the scenario writer means it's uncanon when you speak of FFVII.

That reminds me... some people were upset that the creators were portraying Tifa as someone she's not in ACC. (Being a main reason for Cloud's recovery, for example. I recall a quote something along the lines of "So Tifa bitching at Cloud helped him? WTF".
Case in point: Tifa stating, "Word's aren't the only way to show how you feel."
I think what Cloud's saying there is that even though he had intended to talk to Tifa about things, he can't go out and say them directly to her, and doesn't know how to say to her face. Which is why they say it in words.

That's what I gathered he meant, yeah. Of course, I'm just a biased Cloti, so what do I know?

Me thinks that not having arguments with your significant other just means that the relationship is too closed. No one's relationships are perfect.But continue on with that scene and eventually it sounds as they aren't really together (damnit, my wi-fi is acting up and lost the site I was on) Anyway, the next morning Tifa mentions that moment never happening again or something along that lines, and she panics when Cloud mentions something, and he says something close to 'don't worry, we'll go on together' or some crazy shit like that.
Then when they get on the Highwind, and Tifa gets teased, either:
A) Cid and Barret are the biggest gossips (perverts) ever and watched the two the entire night, thus she is embarassed to have other watch such an intimate scene.
B) Like someone said before, she was rejected and when Barret and Cid teased her she was embarassed by what happened and ran off.
BWA, you do realize that she said that because it was their last night together, the day before they were going to attempt into defeating Sephiroth? She says that because she thinks that it'll be the last time the two will be spending their time together, not because she's rejected and she wants to take a whiff at his clothes. The, "nothing's changed at all," line just comes to show that Cloud is still bad at showing his feelings through words. There's no explanation for Tifa saying, "Words arent' the only way to show one how you feel," then. And if you consider it, I doubt SE would make a character like Tifa fall so low.

But as his lover, she has no qualms about telling him he's being an ass. She is the only one who confronts him that openly exactly because she's his koibito - it is her place and no one else's. Their friends all have their say, but it isn't their place to interfere in matters of their family. Exactly why the Tifa speech takes place in the dark in a bedroom -- to further solidify the idea of two lovers having an argument.
Also, she knows him best. He needs his ass kicked, which is what Marlene does

Argh, that's what really bothers me in LTDs. You can't continue to argue that Tifa and Cloud can't be together because Tifa is too clingy, and disturbs Cloud mentally, when the creators have said so many times that she understands and supports him, and NEVER made him feel like crap.
