Cleriths are perfectly fine. We aren't generalizing. Hell, I have a close Clerith bud who helps me moderate a Cloti forum, and she supports Clerith 100 percent. And plus, we can use more Clerith members because the CloudxAerith club needs more people.
Awww....thanks Ali, that's sweet. I must admit as happy as I am that Aerith called Cloud her kobito (lover) and friend, I think SE should have a Case of Cloud with a threesome since Cloud/Aerith/Tifa all love each other. Besides the hotness, it would end the LTD. That way no gets left out.
Nothing has changed there. CoLW takes place following the game and before AC(C) and clearly before Zack wakes up. The fact that Zack is with Aerith through all of ACC should be pretty indicative of where her heart lies.
In fact, Zack's presence in the "healing" scene at the end (you know, the one where Cloud calls Aerith "Mother" (love that) ) has to be by Aerith's design. Zack is not Cetra, he can't flit about the Lifestream all willy nilly. He's there because Aerith pieced him back together (as she did others in CoLW) and kept him with her--even when she could have had alone time (aka spirit!sex) with Cloud.
I even took it that it was she that
sent Zack to give Cloud his pep talk
. And it's Zack she's walking toward at the end. You know how those Japanese love their symbolism...
So Zerith, in my humble opinion, is very much alive and well.

As much as I really really REALLY want Zack to get his woman in the end, I'm just not sure I'm convinced of it anymore. Sure Aerith would had to have been the one to wake Zack up, but because she loves him or because she needed help and was waking everyone up that she could? Did she simply see that he could help her save Cloud?
Even still, once in the Lifestream I'm not sure if any of that even matters anymore. After AC/C Zack and Aerith are just going to go dissolve into the Lifestream anyway, unless Sephiroth is still fighting it, which I seriously hope he's not.
@Ten~ I feel the same way as you... and at the same time I don't, lol. SE really gave Zack and Aerith tons of quotes saying that they were in love, and would never be separated. So why doesn't Zack appear in CoL? I'm so confused. Though it has been explained to me, I'm still wondering what the REAL answer is. ^^::

No. She simply saw Cloud as an avatar of Zack. And if that was the case, it wouldn't be described as Zack "always being by her side". CoLW doesn't remove compilation. We have to take the WHOLE into consideration and not just this specific part.
Also, Sephi''s last line pretty much says that "hells yeah" he's gonna fight it. He'll never be a memory.

Well, firstly I'd say it's because CoL isn't about Zerith/Cloti?Clerith. It's about Geostigma, and how it came to be and Sephiroth's role in it as well as Aerith's. It's less about character depiction and development and more about plot fulfillment and expansion. Adding Zack would have been superfluous. He is unneeded to progress that aspect of the Story.
Now, before anyone tosses up mention of Cloud, I don't think I have to remind anyone that as much as we love Zack...or any other character (even my fave Tifa) FFVII is Cloud's story and NOT having mention of him would be...odd. Especially in considering Sephiroth's obsession with him.
I don't really see anyone, Cloud or Aerith or Zack or anyone, having much of a love life in a river of goo made out of the memories of everyone who's ever died. And the whole Lifestream bits in OTWTAS seem so impersonal, 'man and woman' instead of their names.
I support it, obviously. Tifa/Cloud/Aerith/Zack ftw.
Or maybe take out those two girls and just have it as Cloud/Zack. That's canon enough for me.

This is true. And plus, we did get CC out of Zack, resulting in thousands and thousands of fangirls.

Can I ask if you think Maiden in Canon or not, AA? I'm just curious. I kind of want to know your view on the whole "Aerith seeing the Zack in Cloud" thing. If you don't mind. =)
Also, Nero makes it all better. >D
@Fhs, how do YOU feel about the beloved line, then?
I do think Maiden is canon not because I'm a Clerith shipper but it was included in an official Ultimania. I do think Aerith originally saw Zack in Cloud, but she also knows Cloud wasn't really being Cloud (which she mentions on the date) which would pretty much add up to he adopted Zack's habits. I'm all for Zack/Aerith and Cloti pre FF7 though. They are cute couples.
With Aerith calling Cloud her kobito (lover/sweetheart/beloved) I think she's seeing Cloud for Cloud, not Zack anymore. In any case, I'm pretty sure Cloud will be single for a while since after all the tragedy in his life he needs time to heal.
If my ramblings on the front page weren't indicative enough (lol) then sure, I'll fill you in...
Of course Cloud is beloved by Aerith. Her romantic interest in him was expressly written in game. From her questioning him about Tifa (the only one that can be referenced as his girlfriend) and her questioning Marlene about him. But in the end even Aerith reveals and acknowledges that Cloud is "Just a messed up kid" that she mistook for Zack:
".....first off, it bothered me how you looked exactly alike. Two completely different people, but look exactly the same. The way you walk, gesture...I think I must have seen him again, in you..."
and, in acknowledging that, she says she says she's searching for the real Cloud. Which, if CoL's wording is any indication, she still hasn't found. "The Cloud she knew..." etc.
That initial attraction--based off of someone she loved so deeply-- and Cloud's own charm (how can we not love him) cemented him in her heart and yes, he is beloved by her.
And honestly, Aerith is fully free to love Cloud, just so long as she is not neglecting or denying what she feels for Zack as well, given her amour for Cloud was based upon what he yoinked from Zack.
As for maiden, I think's outside continuity, not because of any shipper nonsense, but because it's being directly and and indirectly contradicted on so many points throughout the remainder of the compilation.
Thanks, AA. <3 I'm sure you know where I stand on the matter, so there's no need for me to reply.
Sorry, I haven't read ALL of the front page yet. There's a lot up there! xD
