IIRC, I believe it was 'He mistook her for his mother, that doesn't mean he thinks of her life a mother', but that seems to me to be equally ship sinking, really.

And talking bad about Naru is like talking bad about Optimus Prime. They both don't exist. Only one of them is more fleshed out than the other, and I think it's the robot.

But that's just it. Cloud's preferences are completely under the player's control on disc one, so he can prefer Tifa, Aerith or no one. So if a player experienced the game as him falling for Aerith, I don't see them as right or wrong, really. They're given that freedom.

Post-Lifestream they no longer really have a say in his feelings. But if player A sees him as liking Aerith but ending up with Tifa, and player B sees him not liking Aerith but ending up with Tifa, is one really more correct than the other, given the game mechanics?

I can't believe anyone would really think they'd insert a ridiculous BOBBING PINK RIBBON into the corner of the screen. It's along the same lines as "the water scooped into Cloud's hands at the end of AC is shaped like a heart = Aerith!" I've seen that one, too. It's Da Vinci Code, I'm telling you. Only the Chosen Ones can spot the signs of cleris love.

Actually Aerith`s role in AC is very mother-like.
She`s like a mother to the whole world in a sence. She calls for Holy, cures Geostigma, adopts Kadaj and ressurected Cloud.

Here`s quote from FFVII 10th Anny Ultimania:
Showing up in front of people feeling pained and confused,
Her figure seems like a loving mother.
Two years after returning to the planet, Aerith still lives on in the hearts of her friends who saved the planet. And in particular to Cloud, as a symbol of his failure to having being unable protect those dear to him, she was a major factor in causing him to close himself off. For Cloud, and the world once again faced with danger, she reaches out and offers her aid. In that sense she is like a mother watching over the entire planet, and it gives the feeling that she lives in every part of the world.

I guess it's supposed to be Aerith traveling along the road with him, high up in the air, or something. But I thought she took up residence inside him, so why does she have to be way up there?

Then I demanded she provide evidence of the same standard that it meant 'since Aerith died', her next post was an announcement that she was leaving the LTD.

I wonder of if any more amusing Clerith will pop into that LTD thread. Like say, Alantie. Or even funnier, FF_G. It seems kind of strange that both Ume and Cali chickened out of the LTD without answering any questions at the exact same time. -is shocked-

The 'demo aru' here means 'is also... something'. It's the same one used in the 'Tifa is also like a mother, also a koi--bito' line. In this case, she is also family. 'Is now also family' in modifying 'taisetsu na josei', an important woman. An important woman who is now also family.

To be 'important in', I think it'd be better (or correct ) to use '[kazoku] ni (totte) taisetsu na [josei]'.

You need a minimum of 18 years in England (not Scotland or Irland or Wales) to be a true native speaker.

Otherwise, you're just an English 'speaker'. But not native and therefore cannot be trusted to accurately analyse texts and properly understand the intricacies of English.

But if you go on holiday to England enough, that still counts. A holiday is like a condensed year of native time.

Slightly more on topic, what's with the 'Cloud never tries to look at Tifa, but always tries to look at Aerith in AC' thing? He looks at Tifa plenty of times during AC, and in the first scene with Aerith he doesn't try very hard to look at her until she says 'by who?'.

And on the subject of translations:

'Sense of yearning' is rather 'a familiar presence' (???????.
