But seriously, whether or not Cloud and Tifa sleep in the same bed during VII, CoT, or AC had no bearing on their relationship.

I mean they're ficitonal characters ... they're relationship isn't based on what we infer them to be, it's based on how they're written and described and acted out. So for lack of a better phrase what you see is what you get.

But yeah, while it's technically possible they have two beds, it seems more likely that as two folks in a relationship who have already taken the step to physical intimacy, that they share a bed, even if they aren't always having sex.

I don't doubt that it happens, but it's by no means common. In fact, most people would boggle at the 1950s-1960s sitcoms' depictions of loving married couples occupying separate beds in the same bedroom.

Not that I go around walking into the bedrooms of cohabitating couples, but the only couples I have ever known to live together but have separate beds were either old as fuck and married for a long time (read: are tired of having sex with each other, lolz), or going through a separation/divorce. And even then I wouldn't be surprised to learn they were visiting one another's beds once in a while, particularly in the cases of the former.

Because this wasn't addressed nearly to my satisfaction, I feel the need to do so.

Tifa didn't ignore, ostracize, bully, or demean Cloud in ANY way as children. EVER. Let's get that straight right fucking now, because I swear the next fantwat that says otherwise needs to get some comprehension skills and common sense lessons. She was oblivious to Cloud's obsession interest in her, and in no way rejected him. He never made any attempt to get her attention. in fact, he says himself he was on the outs because he thought her friends were stupid (jealous much, Cloudo?) and that he never approached her. It wasn't as if he was standing on her doorstep with daisies in his hand and she was like, "GTFO, loser!" He (and I will repeat this again) NEVER approached her.

He stalked her, sure. Listened to her play piano, watched her through her bedroom window, even, followed her and her friends and had several wet dreams dim love for her.

But she didn't IGNORE him. She was unaware of him, and therefore not obligated to GIVE him any attention. To which, I have to ask, even if she did know--and she DIDN'T--why the fuck would she OWE that little shit anything? He mocked her friends, stalked her, and was a sullen brooder. Yeah, he's awesome. But, since she didn't know--she couldn't react to it--and when she was FINALLY given a clue, she acknowledged him, waited for him, worried for him, and later--years later--TOOK CARE OF HIM.

She found him at the train station and instead of leaving him a mumbling mess--as saintly Aerith does to more than one person in-game--she took him in. So, for anyone that wants to argue that Tifa was a snot as a child or owes Cloud some obligatory blow-job affection, I would kindly ask that you shut the fuck up.

Totally different Rob in question, but I feel the need to make a personal insertion here. My Rob (yes, his name is Robin and yes, he's mine) and I rarely share the same room. Between chaos and work and kids we don't always manage to fall asleep in the same room, much less the same bed. However, we are VERY much a couple (have been for over a decade--yes, boys and girls, I'm ooooold).

Also with this in mind, I can tell you that if he pissed me off in the kitchen and said "I want to drink alone" you bet your bippy if I said, "Then go drink in your room" I'd mean his downstairs office. Even though we don't always share the same bed, and sometimes he's asleep in one room and me in the other (with kids tucked in beside) the bedroom is still "Our" room.

Were not really. The two or one beds is nearly trivial. It's the fact that the two share the bedroom that is the imporant fact. One that some just can't seem to grasp.

It doesn't validate the relationship, and it's not exactly common for couples to have separate rooms/beds. Nor completely unheard of either, it's just a point to be added to many.

Although, when reading CoT myself, I assumed they were in the same bed based on the fact that Tifa neither entered nor exited any room in that scene, as well as the added "even if she'd waited all night" which tells me she probably was curled up beside him and went to sleep. But that's just me...I guess.

Cloud's lack of surprise is also a common sense bell, but hey... we've discussed that already.

I still recall- though not fondly- when the only thing people would defend C/A with was claims of an undefinable, example free, 'chemistry' that Cloud and Tifa somehow didn't have despite everything.

Evidence has never really been the strong suit of the C/A crowd.

I recall way back in the day, when their Modus Operandi was to assume C/A was ZOMFG Godtrue canon and anyone even deigning to claim Cloud had a hint of Romance for Tifa needed to submit a thesis notrized in triplicate.

Then folks like me, Null, Bella, et. al asked them to back up their claims- this was before AC, even- and it all started going to pot for them. Then AC, and the pot was flushed.

NO! If taken at face value the the complication is pretty Fing clear. It takes real effort to try and ring Clerith from it. And to do that you have to start with the assumption that Cloud loves Aerith. Even though you can't prove it. It's circular logical gymnastics that I just can't fathom.
