Going back over this whole 'dimly' thing on a different forum it's rather funny. (screencaps can be provided upon request)
"Oh I guess Cloud did have a crush on Tifa as a kid. But it doesn't matter".
Seriously? They couldn't even admit before this that Cloud liked Tifa when he made the promise? Ugh..
As normal context is key. When the promise was made they were 13 and 14 respectively. Of course it's going to be a 'dim' love. They really are not mature enough to completely understand such things I would think.
But as was shown IN THE GAME. Over the next two years both of them take it to heart. And those feeling grow as they do.
Sure maybe those feelings don't manifest in the healthiest of ways. Cloud becomes deeply ashamed he can't live up to his promise of becoming SOLDIER. And Tifa constructs a bit of a fantasy version of Cloud in her head (which will be a problem years later thanks to Jenova). But they are there.
Also as shown in game these feelings do not leave Tifa. She cares deeply for Cloud throughout the game. And as soon as Cloud regains himself those feelings are back and stronger than ever. So seven years after a promise made under the stars these two lovebirds finally put those feeling out there for the other to know (with words and...other things).
There you have it. The epic (and at times tragic) love story of FF7.
I'd love to hear why it doesn't matter. Cuz it's the past right? That's why they reiterated it at the culmination of a major plot point, right? Because it's unimportant?
I don't know if 'fantasy' version is necessarily the right way to put it. It's technically accurate, but it has connotations that aren't strictly there. What she did was believe Cloud could have made good on his promise, which he might have been able to had HE believed, ironically enough.
It's not particularly tragic. A bit harrowed, sometimes troubled, but not tragic.
Oh, that's just perfect.
I wonder where this 'taking off with Aerith' is supposed to be in AC/C.
Maybe it's in the rival orphanage.
I am amused by the 'oh, they both got jilted but their lovers, let's pair them up!' illogic. Quite silly.
It's good to look back 5 years, before AC, and see just how wildly off the mark their speculation was/ is. And how on the ball ours was.
hitoshura said:Not to say that's always the case, since emotions are a subjective thing. You can think to yourself, "hey, Billy's my koibito" while Billy might be all "woah, back off woman". However, we aren't talking about what Tifa thinks herself. Because this was Nomura, talking about a fictional character in the third person.
Also LOL pick of the day.
And Cloud stays were he belongs... InSeventh Heaven, withTifa.
Speaking of taking off with Zack. Did they tweak the scene at the end with him an Aerith? I thought I saw some screens where they disappear at the same time instead of her lingering a bit longer.
ABSOLUTEPROOFZ said:Zack... What should I do so that Cloud will know about the truth about himself? Can you tell him that he's real?"
"It's impossible for us to do it. The only one who can do it is that girl that was there with us in Nibelheim, Tifa. If the memories she has could draw out the memories in Cloud then maybe..."
MOREPROOFZ said:In truth, Aerith really wanted to do it herself. But she couldn't carry out the task. That's why she entrusted Tifa with it. She entrusted Tifa with all the feelings she had for Cloud in her heart. She entrusted them to the one that was going to "live" together with Cloud...
And so, Tifa accomplished the task. Collating her own memories with that of Cloud's, she looked for the things that only the real Cloud could know. Proofing it all, the closed door was opened. Not leaving Soldier allowed Jenova's power that was implanted in Cloud to copy the Soldier traits of his close friend, Zack. Drawing out the deep memories that were firmly clammed up inside all of that, she reconstructed his original character instead of the fake character he created to protect himself.
"You did it, Tifa. Thank you... I'm a little jealous of you but, do take care of Cloud and the upper world."
Tifa embraced Cloud tightly as he returned to his senses. Aerith watched as both of them returned to the surface while smiling like an affectionate mother.
Well, you can't lose something if you were never in possession of or with that something to begin with. Sometimes I wonder if they realize they self-pwn themselves. Probably not. And lol @ win/lose mentality going on there. Also LOL pick of the day.

I could be wrong.
Nope that's how it is They disappear at the same time and this time they're closer
which is way better than the AC version! They seemed as if they were mad at each other there
GeoMill said:No, you are right. I re-watched it and it has visibly changed. Zack was one step ahead of Aerith, but they both disappeared at the same time, no lingering for anyone.
Wonder why they changed that?
Mmmmm yes. *strokes ego* Good gooood.
As for why they changed it? Well it couldn't possibly have any Zerith implications. Or that Cloud sees them as equally important. Because as we all know Aerith barely tolerates Zack and Cloud doesn't even see him.
Ah, here.
(AAC!!!!)
Or maybe they just wanted to show that they DID leave TOGETHER and AT THE SAME TIME.
And, is it just the rapid!Zerith in me, or does Zack seem to glance at Aerith while exiting?
After playing Crisis Core, I'm convinced Aeris was meant for Zack and Tifa is meant for Cloud.
It looks like they are holding hands.....
And she rest her head on his shoulder.....
I...got something in my eye.
*runs off crying*
Fuck no, it looks like they're merging into ZERITH, FUSION FORM! only minus the retarded / awkward dance that Goku suddenly 'came up with' randomly.
Also, Zerith will be the final boss in the FFVII game sequel, Revenge of the Fangirls.
