Hmmm, I'm not seeing much that's LTD related in those quotes. Except for the Highwind stuff, of course, but that stuff already appeared verbatim in one of the ultimanias.

Well I think its the fact that in the storyline and commentary, Cloud and Tifa are just inexplicably linked, in each title.

Purely a coincidence that only a stupid, rabid CloTi would see anything significant in :monster:

Stop being so damned rabid, Mako.

I did like them reiterating that Aerith's death is supposed to be a sudden, meaningless loss. Not a great sacrifice, not planned, and permanent. Not a minor inconvenience that Cloud needs to overcome in order to get some quality flowerfield lovin'. That just cheapens Aerith's death, damn it.

Only a rabid Cloti would like that interview. :awesomonster:

It's just nice to see them mentioning both Cloud and Tifa throughout the interview, that's all.

And I agree, that does just cheapen Aerith's death. It gives out no meaning.

There was quite a bit of Aerith mentioned in there, too. :monster:

Though I'd like to thank them for reminding everyone that Aerith sees Zack in Cloud.

I know, but Aerith wasn't mentioned with Cloud I think, but rather the effect of the whole gang.

And yeah:

“Aerith seeing her first love again in Cloud was already there, so I brought him to link that with solving the mysteries.”

it reminds me of how back in the nineties when FFVII first came out, people were so fucking pissed on the internet that Aerith died and you couldn't revive her, and people were pissing and moaning about how FFVII was incomplete and they wanted Square to remake FFVII with a way to revive FFVII cause it was stupid and meaningless to kill Aerith and not have her be revived.

It's like....that was the point. :mosnter:

I think Aerith's death was sad, but I don't see why fans would be angered by it. In a way, it just shows the nature of Aerith's 'spirit,' and how she still maintained a positive attitude - to everyone, in AC.

I assume the various mentions of Aerith as 'heroine' would please people :awesomonster:

Although they still say there are two heroines (and not three like that 'Yuffie counts too' thing). Which isn't really new, they said that since FFVII's release. Aerith is simply the 'tragic heroine' of FFVII, and Tifa the one who apparently isn't tragic.

I think most people got angry because quite a few people would spend so much time grinding to get all her limit breaks before Disk one ended (myself included) and that when she dies it's a wtf moment for all that hard work. SHE'S A FUCKING MAGE, SHE SHOULDN'T BE IN BATTLE EVERY FUCKING TIME. >;

That and for the Clerith's out there who were just beginning to see "oluk, clod luvs arith, they b 2gethur nao?" only to have their dreams sliced through with an 8 foot long sword. :monster:

I'm curious as to where you got that from considering it says

In reality, death comes without warning, and you’re left feeling dazed at the gravity of the loss… Rather than wanting to fight evil, you’re just overcome by a great sense of loss, like you just want to give up everything.

Bring out a sense of loss somehow?

Meaning that it was meaningFULL because of the sudden loss and the grief that they couldn't do anything about it. Ergo, cloud wracked with guilt. :monster: This was the feeling they wanted to convey. It didn't cheapen her death at all, it's actually... glorifying it. o.O

Channy, she means that it being a great sacrifice, planned, and a mere inconvenience cheapens the death. Not that it being a sudden, actual loss, does.

Oh, and please don't double post. Edit your previous posts instead.

I liked that part too. I don't think Tifa is necessarily the main heroine of Final Fantasy VII, as long as with Aerith. I don't think there's a 'main heroine,' I just think that they both are heroines, who serve a great role towards Cloud. :monster:

Heroine of the 'saving the world' story = Aerith
Heroine of the 'finding himself' story = Tifa

I've seen that view of it on Japanese forums, which I think fits well. Tifa's role is more deeply involved with Cloud's personal story, whereas Aerith is more important to the wider story.

I just don't see what the trouble is, really. Why there's this need to make Aerith better than everyone else. If Aerith can't be the only heroine, then she has to be the main heroine. Why can't they just both be heroines and leave it as that?

Especially since you'd think that saving the whole entire world would make her super uber important by default. :monster: Really I've never felt that one was more important than they other. They both have huge roles to play in the overall story, and the combined outcomes of both stories results in the world being saved.

Seems similar to the reason why the ending of the Matrix story was changed for the ending of "Path to Neo." According to the interview on the bonus disc a video game hero "can't be martyred," which makes no sense. And the ending of the game sucked more than the ending of the third movie because of the change. :/

Exactly what I think - I mean, why can't both girls be the heroine? And I hate how some expect Aerith to be 'perfect,' which of course, she isn't. And Tifa, especially her, is always targeted because she has a few flaws, and makes a few mistakes on her part. But really, that just shows that she's only human, and she's actually a more well rounded character, you might say. It's not like people despise Cloud for being a Chocobo-head either. And yeah, Tifa and Cloud have a more 'personal,' relationship I think, whilst with Aerith she's more of a mother to everyone, her story has a wider aspect. They both have huge roles, and without Tifa or Aerith, then Cloud would be screwed. :awesomonster:

They'll cling to any perceived loophole, no matter how remote, won't they?

"It says Cloud and Tifa revealed their feelings to each other in a scene that contains risque dialogue, but it doesn't say what those feelings were!! You see? Cloud loves Aerith after all!"

wat. I thought the point of that scene was because they couldn't reveal their feelings, hence the risque dialogue in the first place. :monster:

Isabella

It doesn't say HOW they reveal their feelings. If they can't say it in words, there's always other ways to say it. :monster:

Yeah, that's the risque line. And originally they were gonna make em do it. But they didn't. Tifa says the line, but she's kinda just left hanging. :monster:

Isabella

It doesn't say that they "didn't make them do it." They just toned down the obviousness, and made it more suggestive and tasteful. The intent behind the scene didn't change.

She says the line then the screen fades to black.

Then she freaks out of embarrassment when she finds out Cid and Barret were watching them.

SURE NOTHING HAPPENED.

I've actually seen people argue that Tifa was embarrassed because she broke down crying when Cloud rejects her and she was embarrassed the others saw her cry.
