Only a rabid Cloti would like that interview.Purely a coincidence that only a stupid, rabid CloTi would see anything significant in
I assume the various mentions of Aerith as 'heroine' would please peopleThere was quite a bit of Aerith mentioned in there, too.
I think Aerith's death was sad, but I don't see why fans would be angered by it. In a way, it just shows the nature of Aerith's 'spirit,' and how she still maintained a positive attitude - to everyone, in AC.
Stop being so damned rabid, Mako.
I did like them reiterating that Aerith's death is supposed to be a sudden, meaningless loss. Not a great sacrifice, not planned, and permanent. Not a minor inconvenience that Cloud needs to overcome in order to get some quality flowerfield lovin'. That just cheapens Aerith's death, damn it.
In reality, death comes without warning, and you’re left feeling dazed at the gravity of the loss… Rather than wanting to fight evil, you’re just overcome by a great sense of loss, like you just want to give up everything.
Bring out a sense of loss somehow?
I liked that part too. I don't think Tifa is necessarily the main heroine of Final Fantasy VII, as long as with Aerith. I don't think there's a 'main heroine,' I just think that they both are heroines, who serve a great role towards Cloud.Although they still say there are two heroines (and not three like that 'Yuffie counts too' thing). Which isn't really new, they said that since FFVII's release. Aerith is simply the 'tragic heroine' of FFVII, and Tifa the one who apparently isn't tragic.
Heroine of the 'saving the world' story = Aerith
Heroine of the 'finding himself' story = Tifa
I've seen that view of it on Japanese forums, which I think fits well. Tifa's role is more deeply involved with Cloud's personal story, whereas Aerith is more important to the wider story.
I just don't see what the trouble is, really. Why there's this need to make Aerith better than everyone else. If Aerith can't be the only heroine, then she has to be the main heroine. Why can't they just both be heroines and leave it as that?
it reminds me of how back in the nineties when FFVII first came out, people were so fucking pissed on the internet that Aerith died and you couldn't revive her, and people were pissing and moaning about how FFVII was incomplete and they wanted Square to remake FFVII with a way to revive FFVII cause it was stupid and meaningless to kill Aerith and not have her be revived.
It's like....that was the point. :mosnter:
Exactly what I think - I mean, why can't both girls be the heroine? And I hate how some expect Aerith to be 'perfect,' which of course, she isn't. And Tifa, especially her, is always targeted because she has a few flaws, and makes a few mistakes on her part. But really, that just shows that she's only human, and she's actually a more well rounded character, you might say. It's not like people despise Cloud for being a Chocobo-head either. And yeah, Tifa and Cloud have a more 'personal,' relationship I think, whilst with Aerith she's more of a mother to everyone, her story has a wider aspect. They both have huge roles, and without Tifa or Aerith, then Cloud would be screwed.I've seen that view of it on Japanese forums, which I think fits well. Tifa's role is more deeply involved with Cloud's personal story, whereas Aerith is more important to the wider story.
