Zero Mission made me want to get back into the Metroid games again, so I went back and started Other M for real (only had 5 minutes of it back in 2011), knowing some of what I'm getting into.
Yes, the acting is weird, Samus probably could have been voiced by Jennifer Hale, the gun targets monsters automatically because the developers didn't know how else to marry the controls with the platforming, and activating the missiles is difficult when fighting in real-time (I'm getting used to it.)
It has its positives. The most important for me, being that the game is mostly 3rd person, and activating 1st person only for precision. The music in the cutscenes is really moving, which is a shame because from what I've heard of the OST, it only has boss battle music and didn't record any of the stuff that sounds like this: (
1:26-2:30)
And finally, I could dig into Metroid mythology all day. I am quite pumped for this.
I thought I'd get stuck in spots according to reviews, but I think Zero Mission trained me well so it hasn't been that bad. Most of the time it turns out being an elevator puzzle, or finding a hole to morph ball into.
