Starting listening to Nioh 2 ost last night. I'm gonna buy that game, but probably won't get to it till after the remakePlaying ACNH on the side but my main game right now is Nioh 2. Very cool, takes some getting used to thanks to both the difficulty and the amount of different mechanics it has going on, but once you get a grasp of things it's a whole lot of fun.
Huh?FF12.....
So suck me.

I hadn't played the first one yet, but I heard this is supposed to be a prequel. Would it matter which one I play first?I beat Nioh 2 last night, and the music was the biggest surprise. Some of the tracks are really damn good, and they play in appropriate moments.
The finale especially--the story wasn't much at first, but the ending is really satisfying for a loot driven action RPG. Obviously early, but it's my GOTY so far.
In a perfect world, I say play the first because A) it's really good on it's own, and B) the story in Nioh 2 has a lot of payoff if you played the first.I hadn't played the first one yet, but I heard this is supposed to be a prequel. Would it matter which one I play first?
I'm definitely not playing them back to back. I was just thinking for the continuity of the story. In a perfect world, I say play the first because A) it's really good on it's own, and B) the story in Nioh 2 has a lot of payoff if you played the first.
Realistically though, these games are crazy long and playing both back to back is a recipe for burnout. If you space them out, playing both is good. But most people don't play them for the story, so in that sense the second is better gameplay wise and you won't miss too much if you jump to it.
In that case, you should definitely play Nioh 1. If you can get it on a sale, get the DLCs too--they're really fun and key for the story continuity.I'm definitely not playing them back to back. I was just thinking for the continuity of the story.
The memories....the feels.Just got DOOM Eternal tonight and I'm loving it so far! Definitely keeps you on your toes, but it's a great experience. Rip and tear! Those new glory kills are just epic, especially with the Doomblade. I had a lot of fun with DOOM 2016 and this looks to be just as good. Seems like it'll be a hell of a ride! And yes, pun very much intended.![]()
If you're lucky...?I'm currently playing Chaos;Child. While I'd say the story itself is pretty good I just don't think I can bring myself to be a fan of the Visual Novel game genre. I'm hoping I actually finish it today so I can try to get another game in before VIIR arrives. Or maybe try Half-Life: Alyx in VR if I'm lucky.

I have Alyx, and it is absolutely worthy of the hype. I tore through the game in 3 sessions (about 17 hours total, but I was crawling through it).

Are you a fan of the Science Adventure series (the animes at least)? I've been obsessed with Steins;Gate and related content for years. Semi-recently played S;G LPB for the first time. I've actually never played C;H, but I've had it downloaded and ready to go. I'm also interested in the Robotics;Notes VN and its sequel, since I thought the anime was fairly enjoyable.
I really like Steins;Gate (anime) but that and Chaos;Child are the only entries I've experienced in the Science Adventure series so far. I know I should have played Chaos;Head first but what can I say? I'm arebelmess when it comes to playing games in order. Steins;Gate is next on my list for VN games as it's supposedly one of the best that the genre has to offer unless you care to recommend another title?
I've not played many VNs either. The only one outside of the S;G series I've played was VA-11 HALL-A, which I thought was really good.
What I love about Steins;Gate is that it's just a gift that keeps on giving. There is always more to think about, more theories to be had, a new Easter egg to spot. It's just so beautifully complex (and inspiring). I love to play with the theory that the Gamma attractor field was the original one (Gamma was featured in a drama CD) even though it's probably not canon. If you bury yourself in the logic of S;G, you begin to realize how much has technically happened off screen, and it's crazy. Also, if you're interested, there are a couple short mangas as well.
I haven't watched C;H because everyone always says it's a waste of time, so I'd like to skip straight to the VN. I felt like the R;N anime had a great set up but then sort of botched the ending (kinda feel the same about S;G0 - this studio seems to have a hard time wrapping things up properly), so I'd like to see how the VN handled it. R;N and its sequel also take place in the Steins;Gate worldline, so they are technically sequels.
As good as Steins;Gate or not? The only other VN that I've played is √Letter: Last Answer which I didn't think was as good as C;C personally.
It's been a long time since I watched the anime. Sounds like either a re-watch and/or a playthrough of the game is definitely in order. Thank you for your inspiration. I enjoy manga but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to reading. Need to have that actual book in my hands.
I'm sure C;H would set up the story for C;C wonderfully as well as, you know, introduce you to the game's features in the way that you're supposed to be which I definitely missed out on. It'll be a different experience if you're already well versed though.
