It is fascinating how tastes differ. The realistic faces of FFXV, especially so in Kingsglaive, feels uncanny to me because in my head this is not what Final Fantasy looks like. In my mind, FF characters are supposed to have "emotive porcelain faces", striking a particular balance between fantasy and realism. The attention to facial expressions in this new trailer is amazing and I appreciate that it still blends together with the porcelain style of Final Fantasy characters.

If they're thinking of 4 or 5, I'm dubious how good that'll end up being. My worry is that we've only seen Midgar scenes so far because the first game is simply the Midgar segment of the game, and it'll end at the motorbike escape.

I'm not sold that twitter comment is saying they are splitting the game. I very much still believe they are (they should), but that translation is wonky.

I agree. I wish they'd tell us how many parts there are and where they start/end as well.
I do hope it's not too many parts, though, as I'm not getting any younger and can't wait forever for all of the parts to come out.

I doubt that's it. Showing Cloud just walking around Kalm or the Chocobo Farm is hardly a spoiler.
I think they've just mostly focused on Midgar so far because that's the most iconic part of FF7 visually.

I think that the first game will revolve around the part I like the least, aka Midgard, and that you are right, the escaping will be the last thing we'll see.
My bet is 3 parts: Part 1 = Midgard, Part 2 = until Aerith's death, Part 3 = the rest. That is how it makes the most sense, especially if they're adding stuff around the whole team in Midgard, it would be enough to fill a game. If they want to make 2 parts only, then the first part will be up until Aerith's death because they need to hype the last part.
I'm worried though because it means it will span over 2 consoles. Maybe I'll just have to wait for it to pop on PS5 since I don't own a PS4 :/

....But since when has Reno looked like an old man? OG? Since Advent Children, he's been portrayed as a young man. Like, the only way Reno's gonna suddenly look like an old man is if SE decided to do it Kingsglaive style, and personally, I didn't like the style of Kingsglaive all that much. I prefer the sleek animeish style, thank you muchly. Less Uncanny Valley in my opinion.Okay, so maybe a few million people, but still...I just happen to be a fan of the Compilation and I'd like to see the designs of the characters to remain even in the Remake. I don't want my Reno to look like an old guy, especially in the Remake.
I keep losing my shit over Cloud and Barret VS Guard Scorpion because wouldn't it be great if it went down like this:

i think it's the proportions. all of them, but especially aeris...th, have unusually large eyes, even by conventions set by ac/c. the noses are narrower than is typical, and the mouths are noticeably smaller, particularly in comparison to their crowns and cheekbones (which, yeah, terminate in tinier jaws than you would realistically anticipate).
it's not exaggerated to the point of being "incorrect," technically, but altogether it's less effective in communicating the illusion of volume, especially in the eyes.

I get the thing now about them needing to look 'anime'. I don't particularly like it but I understand it and I get why people would think it's the right aesthetic for this game.

Yeah, the Kingslaive looked too realistic to simply be animated. I didn't like Lunafreya's look in the film. Her look in the game was much better. Like you, I hope Square isn't gonna go down that route with FFVII remake and all of the characters. Personally I think all of FFVII characters are much better looking in Advent Children, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus(in the FMV scenes of the latter) than in any other form. Gosh, even Cloud's look in Dissidia NT is extremely close to the three other titles, both in gameplay and in the FMV scenes.
Edit: Sad news for Steve Burton fans including myself-Final Fantasy VII Remake has been taken off of his list of voicing Cloud on his profile on Wikipedia, which pretty much confirms that he's been replaced for unknown reasons at this time. So all of the English Cast of Advent Children will not return and only the Japanese Cast will return for the Remake.
