FFVII REMAKE CONFIRMED

For those in the know - if you have a PS4 disc, and pop it into a PS5, does it then install the game and update to run the PS5 version? I wanna play the DLC but don't wanna but the game again.

Also I've been passively looking for a PS5 for weeks so I can play Village... no luck :(
IIRC the Yuffie episode will be accessible without having to complete the game, it will be its own separate selection from the menu. Also in general you should be able to transfer your saved data from your PS4 to your PS5.

So if you have the PS4 disc and a PS5 with a disc drive, then just pop in the PS4 disc and you'll be able to download and play the PS5 version. Minor note: you'll need to have PS4 disc in the disc drive anytime you want to play. However, the Yuffie chapter will cost you $20. There's no way around this. You're either a PS4 owner and need to pay $20 for the Yuffie chapter or you can buy the PS5 version (which includes the base game and Yuffie chapter) for $70. All prices are USD. Hope that makes sense!

To my understanding, that's exactly it. The character strangeness is generally attributed to the CyberConnect2 crowd, right?

No, it's just a misunderstanding we've held for too long.

Cyberconnect2 are one of dozens of companies that work was outsourced to in the beginning of development as is common with AAA games. Character modelling was also not one of their responsibilities going by the credits, they had people work on character animation, cinematic animation, level design and a few more things.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up, that's a good misunderstanding to throw out. It's particularly strange though, since the 2015 models don't look up to par to what Square was doing at the time - XV among other games. I wonder what was up.

Hmmm, which credits are you referring to? My understanding is that CC2 was to have a much bigger role in development until Square took it in-house. Certainly something happened, big enough for Naoki Hamaguchi to describe it as a “sensitive subject.”

The credits of the game :monster:

I'm aware of this quote but the thing is that I personally want a second opinion regarding the translation because I'm not quite certain whether he means sensitive subject as in "there is drama" or as in "I can't talk too much about a project in-development at this time"

(should start at 20:10 I think)

Most people at that point were under the impression that CC2 was the primary developer (even though in a 2015 Famitsu interview they pretty much explained they are at that point working with multiple 3rd parties and CC2 is one of them. I'm fairly certain that this is also the only time Square Enix ever mentioned them in any context) so you'd assume taking it in-house means taking it away from CC2.

Q. So, being that devoted [to the vision of the game] is the reason for the segmented product.
So far, Kitase, Nomura, Nojima, and Hashimoto's names have come out, but apart from that, who else is participating, and what kind of structure is the production is heading forward with?

Kitase :
In relation to the models for example, our company's visual director oversees the process and directly works with the data ("puts his hands on the data).

Nomura :
In design, apart from Ferrari who works primarily on sub-characters,
such as the trio of Biggs and Co. that were made public this time around,
programmers, and the core members of the planning process, are working closely together with outside cooperative companies

Kitase :
As the core members are supervising the build-up of the game,
we are also receiving assistance from several production companies,
as this has become a commonplace production technique in recent times.

CyberConnect2 whom made "FFVII G bike" for us (hereinafter, CC2) will be one of those companies.

CC2 is a small company though with only a little over 200 employees that in addition to Remake outsourcing tasks were also working on their own projects. It never made sense for them to be the main workforce on a huge project like Remake. You can outsource an entire mobile game to them, sure, but not a project of this magnitude.
It makes more sense that they were always just one of many.

So it is my assumption that this is all according to keikaku. Outsourcing phase in the beginning of development, receive assistance from tons of 3rd parties. Then, eventually pull all assets in-house and put it all together. Seems like normal AAA development, most likely.

I'm either expecting an announcement April (when exclusivity ends) or after Intergrade is released on PS5. They didn't confirm any exclusivity to the PS5 right? I heard something about the Episode being excluisive, though I'm not sure.

I figure a PC release will be announced only after sales for Intergrade begin to decline.

Er, another assumption of mine: I’m pretty sure Intergrade is the name of the PS5 upgrade patch (“Intergrade Edition” let’s say) and that both the PS5 native store and the future Steam store will just call it “Remake” — am I correct here?

On the PS store app, Integrade is it’s own bundle so I think it’ll be “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade” on Steam if that is in fact the version that they release there

EDIT: I wonder if the Yuffie DLC will be exclusive to PS5 because if so, then maybe it’ll just be “Remake”?

PC version has to be Intergrade, right? If it's been "finished for a while," as the leaker says, that makes me feel like... maybe not? But they can't release the original version. No way.
