Double Growth
I'm struggling to decide if I want to go with Lenna or Vanille myself. I know Vanille is more versatile, but til now I've only been using White Mage who isn't versatile at all and it hasn't been much of a problem...

I don't find much use for characters' versatility. Sure, Sephiroth can do ~500 damage with Thundara, but he can do double that with a physical attack, so what's the point? Better to have five specialists, I think. It's all about the ATT/MAG/MND.

Oh well just to throw more spanners? in the works apparently Lenna gets Dancer later on and Vanille gets Summon 3, for Record Memories Lenna an ability for boost in healing effectiveness and Vanille gets ... some kind of physical attack buffing thing? (not sure if I read that on the JP wiki right and whether or not it's only for herself or can be used on allies also) :monster:

I've now been using Vanille in the front row with a Dancing Dagger (four stars) equipped now for rando scrubs, I find it fun :monster: I might also try her out with Kirin for MT regen later too ;3

I can't wait until Dancer for Lenna either though :pinkmonster:

Don't get me started on Aerith who apparently gets like four different limit skills to choose from and a unique skill that boosts Mind :excited: I missed the event she was available from though :(

I've been reading elsewhere and apparently consensus is like Lenna seems to be more traditional white mage/dedicated healer while Vanille rather than white mage, black mage, or red mage, etc is the first Sage like type to be released over here or something, apparently Tellah and Hope are the same way.

I haven't managed to get Vanille's special weapon yet but with my last Mythril draw I did manage to get Judgement Staff *5 so she's now sporting that along with the shiny new Thundaga she just got after I got it from her event :excited: I just tried her new set up out and she just dealt over 5000 damage to a Behemoth in her event with Thundaga off Judgement Staff and after using her Deshellga limit :excited: Behemoth's are weak to lightning/thunder so she did double damage to it :)

With all the VI weapons, armours and characters available, the Realm Synergy bonus should grant players a fantastic boost.

I'm a bit tired of this game at the moment but I'm slogging through the Legendary Plunder event to get Locke. Why does it have to be so long? And why are there always two events going on at the same time? I still haven't gotten around to finishing all the regular dungeons because I always feel like I have to take advantage of the events.

Legendary Plunder is definitely a jaw-droppingly long slog. I'm not quite sure what the thinking behind that was. I've managed to master half the Elites, until it gets stupidly difficult, so now I'm done with the event and can take a breather before all the new content.

I'm definitely torn on this issue. On the one hand, I absolutely love that there is always something to do, but in that same breath, you do constantly feel that you are in an uphill race to keep up with everything because you know that something new is just around the corner. You aren't really given much time to grind your levels or obtain more orbs for abilities (which is extremely important since you only have two slots). So yeah ... I'm torn.

I'm still really enjoying the game, though I do wish they did something about the relic system and allowed you to purchase equipment straight up. I managed to get lucky and get the new Thunder-all blade, but I really wanted Mystical Veil and it's heal all Soul Break.

Yeah I don't get the tl;dr either; on the one side, I'm thinking it's relatively cheap content; on the other, maybe the Japanese and the intended audience really likes grinding. On the third hand (?), maybe they went for the in-app purchase model of things taking very long while forgetting to add the in-app purchases that make shit go fast. idgi.

i think you can point to the 'gacha' style of iap (mimicking those little toy capsule machines where you get a random toy) as a japanese mobile game trend for some of the blame. it features in a lot of popular games, and generates a lot of revenue for some devs. rk's version is just a gacha without the outer appearance of the toy machine like other games have. rk's version is a bit more generous by letting you get a free item every 4 hours compared to others that just give you one free go per day.

but for players it means that the best stuff in the games is trapped inside this system where you either have to slog it out (in rk's case, gather mythril for ages) or start paying up for a random chance to get something good. japan actually cracked down on a type of gacha called 'comp[lete/letion] gacha' where if you completed a 'set' of items you got a special reward. but since the system is random, you had to keep playing it (usually getting duplicate items) in order to get this valuable item and it leads to the same kind of thing you we in the west where kids end up spending hundreds of moneys building up their castle or farm or some shit. so companies like dena had to stop doing that a few years back.

with some kind of adjustments in place (like only getting 5 star items, or the option to not get duplicates, being able to get the special items from difficult quests) it might be a less annoying model. but as it is, the higher level parts of the game seem off limits to anyone who doesn't have the good, rare equipment. i've found that the default special attacks (soul breaks?) are kind of shit, especially the ones that are just physical attacks, but the ones you get from 5 star weapons are actually useful (lots of damage, status effects). the newer attacks for cloud and squall are ridiculous, but getting those requires either luck or deep pockets and a willingness to empty those pockets.

This. Totally this. They haven't yet unleashed the record materia quests in the US but I have read that some of those quests are damn near impossible without having quality 5 star equipment. I really enjoy this game on the whole but I get HEAVILY annoyed with the fact that it is so damned difficult to pull 5 star equipment. I saved up 50 mythril and did a 11 x draw for the first time today. I got 1 piece of 5 star equipment (blitz sword), 1 piece of 4 star equipment, and the rest were 3 stars. I felt completely fucking ripped off.

I really wish they would just set up a store and assign mythril and gem values to each weapon and piece of armor. Allow for unlimited purchases of each item. I'm sure Square would still make good money because there would be those willing to shell out the cash to get all the best equipment as soon as they could.

The massive update is now live ... with some additional features and re-tuning not previously mentioned! To sum it all up:

REALMS / DUNGEON OVERHAUL
An overhaul of the menu system within a dungeon means that you can now optimize your party and equipment to the realm that you are about to enter! (Hell yes! It was seriously annoying having to do it manually each time). This of course achieves the Realm Synergy bonuses, making both leveling and battling easier within that realm.

You can also view the total stamina use and boss information before you enter each realm, meaning that you no longer have to waste stamina to do a complete realm before realising that you are not going to achieve Mastery since you now know the requirements beforehand.

Scores have also been made more lenient - like total damage / action takens. (This is a very nice surprise as some of the requirements for a mastery score on various Elite dungeons were ridiculous).

There is also something about making acquiring specific orbs easier by dividing the daily dungeons but I haven't looked into this yet.

QUESTS
Participate in the Quest feature (maximum of 5 at a time) in order to earn various rewards - like Gil, Mythril and Growth Eggs. Special quests will yield special rewards, like new abilities, and eventually, Record Materia.

Roaming Warriors / Friends
Assign a character to be your Roaming Warrior, who you can send randomly to other people's games. You can equip this RW with any equipment you like (without effecting your usual setup). Your RW can be activated by a player in batttle and this will utilise their Soul Break. (Very cool and handy, especially with those that have the special Soul Breaks).

If there is a certain RW that you want to keep hold of and you do not want a random one, you can add Friends and register that RW on your system.

You can find your profile, friend code and RW within the menu subsection.

BATTLE SPEED
The speed and flow of battle can now be changed via the pause menu within a battle. The setting can be adjusted from 1 (slow) to 5 (fast).

And just to top it all off, the game is now running a heck of a lot faster and smoother overall.

My friend code: 9DvY (Sephiroth level 50 with Oblivion).

You spelt Rpaming Wqrrior wrong:

P.S. My friend code is 9CNa. My RW is currently Lenna since I think she has one of the most useful Soul Breaks and because I'm sure there are already a million Clouds and Sephiroths out there. ;)

Have they altered all of the daily dungeons? So no more weapon upgrades on Tuesdays? :(

Oh, It's been merged with orbs on a Monday.

I've been playing this over the last few days and have to say for a Square Enix phone game it ain't bad at all.

It does go mad with the grind a bit though. Still, fun and I quite enjoy seeing all the sprite designs for characters/enemies from the newer games. It's fun to play in small bursts :D

Oh please, tres, hito has put an absurd number of hours into this game that were, as I understand it, fun before hitting the wall he's at now. That doesn't even begin to vindicate your bizarrely inconsistent stand you've made here.

I've got 3 random followers. Didn't even notice I'd been sending out a level 38 Celes.

Is there a way to turn it off? I don't like random weirdos following me.

I didn't know it told people that you were following them, just thought it'd inform them when someone used their Roaming Warrior. Now I feel awkward for following people

THIS. I love now being able to take a look at the boss before going into the realm and not having to waste stamina to redo it just because I didn't use Fire or something.
