how does the promise flashback occurring in chapter 4 make it 'overshadowed' by jessie? it's not like the scene occurs in relation jessie, it's brought on by something he see in the environment. just because she's in the general vicinity?

Sorry. That said, Aerith does come across very shippy in the remake. They've even amped up how much its her idea to have cloud chase tifa to wall market compared to the OG.

Both of them are only your opinions, which is fine. But they arent true for everyone. How do you know knew players feel that way?
If you look at it from the games perspective, characters were much more attracted to Tifa over Aerith anyway. Guys in the sector 7 slums all wanted a chance at Tifa. Hell, Johnny was obsessed with her. I didn't hear NPC or side chatter about how much they liked Aerith. Even in wall market, she gets referred to as "homely" by one of Corneo's men

you were calling the wall market sequence 'one on one time', even though a) they're not alone, and b) spending time together isn't the reason they're there

Just because other people are around doesn't mean it isn't still one-on-one time between Cloud and Aerith (two core members of the LTD). It still allows time for them to bond & share chemistry.
The idea that other people would make Cloud and Aerith's one-on-one time null-and-void is just as ridiculous as saying that having other people around in a restaurant during a date somehow makes the date null-and-void.

WARNING 2/3: Stop unnecessarily double posting.
In the Remake, the promise scene happens during Jessie's mission. The OG was far more favorable to Cloti in terms of the promise flashback, IMO. Why? Because in the Remake I saw the promise scene and didn't even have time for it to settle in due to being in the midst of Jessie's mission.

Walking through wall market wasn't a date though. They had clear intentions to save Tifa. To me, their real one on one time was spent in ch 8 anyway. Just like Tifa's was ch 3

In the remake, Cloud remembers the promise on his own, no prompting. Jessie is totally irrelevant to this and you bringing her up is frankly bizarre.

In Chapter 3, Tifa was in Cloud's room on several occasions was she not? That is quality 1 on 1 time.
Also, later in the Chapter 3 Cloud was in Tifa's room. Was he not? That is quality 1 on 1 time.
and, in Chapter 3 Tifa and Cloud were living right next to each other!
Last time I checked in the game Cloud did not go into Aerith's room at all, not even once.

I'm talking about timing. Pacing. The decision by SE to put the promise during the midst of Jessie's mission and not during another part of the game.
