Okay maybe I missed something but why couldn't Cloud just tell him?


Also the story doesn't sound too bad. Lotsa Evan... I almost think this could have made a good detective game or something.

Kyrie didn't know Aerith well or anything. She used to play at the church in the slums, when one day (after she stepped on the flowers, IIRC) Aerith told her to go home. When she got there she saw her parents (both pickpockets) being taken out of their home dead. Based on what people had told her, she realised that Aerith was an Ancient and had told her about her parent's death. But the first thing she did when she saw Aerith again was to call her creepy, which she would come to regret. She later heard that Aerith had been taken away by the Turks, and when Reno and Rude are taking them to Healin she finds out that she had died.

When business for their detective agency started to decline, she suggested the "reading the Lifestream" angle (which is of course all a fraud; Kyrie is just a normal person with no special powers) in part because of Aerith.

We never did know anything about Mr. Strife.

Yeah, it's always been my pet fanon that Cloud is one of Shinra's son. Might be too much to swallow at this point if he turned out to be, though. A fourth son is perfectly believable, mind you, for the man in control of the world -- but as a literary device, it would be a little bit old hat.

Still, I wouldn't mind it if it happened, and would probably still like it despite it meaning he would have three brothers instead of just Rufus. I like Evan and his backstory. So, it's not like Cloud would be in bad company genetically. Even Lazard became pretty likable by the time he died.

Anywho, thanks so much for these summaries, hito. You're so fast it's scary. On my own, I had made sense of only the first chapter by the time you had posted your first summary with the first five chapters.

I thought it was interesting, by the way, that Cloud wouldn't talk about Nibelheim.

Elena is a stone-cold HBIC a lot of the time. Her answer to most problems seems to be "kill them" or at least "beat seven shades of shit out of them"

Well I don't find that completely ooc imo. She does seem to have the want to please her superiors during VII, like, what ever it takes. If an official author chooses to put her down that path, it's fine by me. But that doesn't mean I find that it's ooc for her to get her hands on Tseng XD (Even if I have this feeling it was meant to her to be 'the aggressive apprentice and nothing more)

I think it would be pretty interesting if Evan and Lazard ever knew each other. IIRC, Lazard was pretty invested in the slums and hating his father's company, so it would be pretty neat if he and Evan shared the same cause or something.

Also unrelated, I don't get the people who said Kadaj was only in it a little bit. He's got a massive role in the last quarter of the book, in my opinion. (I'm about 2 1/2 chapters from the end right now.)

For the past 4 or 5 chapters he's pretty been one of the major characters/the major antagonist. He's gotten a lot more time that Cloud, Red XIII or even Tifa.

Not finished just yet but so far none has been during or after AC.
