Honestly I think I'm going to have to wait until I'm 60 (assuming I'm over my dwarf obsession...not bloody likely) to watch the last film. Right now I'm hoping that they decide to end it like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, where the police turn up and arrest everybody...and we can all have a good laugh

I reckon they couldn't have done it with just one film, probably two (If it wasn't for the sodding endless barrel scene) And then they could have just put the inevitable 90 hours of extra scenes on the extended dvd.

But really I don't care - I know it's not perfect by any means, but nearly every other fantasy franchise out there gets a trilogy at the least, so I'm happy to have more of something I actually fucking enjoy for once.

I mean, isn't that good enough? It does the job doesn't it? Why do they always have to do trailers where they condense all the major plot points and spoil the shit out of stuff?

I'm not even sure there's anything in that trailer that could be considered a minor spoiler. Of course, I first read The Hobbit more than twenty years ago so I know everything that happens anyway, but really, everything major that happens in the trailer is stuff you could easily guess was going to happen if you had seen the second film. The only way you could really consider anything in it a spoiler is if you don't want to know things like
