SPOILERS FFVII:R Chapter 16 Spoiler Discussion

ForceStealer

Double Growth
The guy who recognizes Cloud and says he'll go grab Kunsel.

I'm not sure Crisis Core (or the OG) established a deep-seated hatred between all SOLDIERs and regular troops. Isn't it just like that one dude in Sector 8 who's annoyed that Zack's stepping on his turf? Reno had the same complaint.

There isn't one. That was only present due to the Trooper Captain wanting to motivate Sector Security because they all relied on SOLDIER to do most things. He wanted them to not rely on them and focus on training their own skills.

I think overall the divisions themselves were ambivalent of each other. They all had shade to throw to each other. Look at how the Turks treat Shinra Troopers.

I've just started this chapter. The exterior of the Shinra building looks super impressive. Super duper impressive.

I've spent about five minutes just looking up at it.

I've become aware that a lot of people think the ending of the game is a slap in the face and throws away a lot of the immense good will built up by the respect to the source material so far.

I have no idea what happens that causes this response, but I'm going in with an open mind and just being happy that I even got this much fantastic recreation of a pivotal story in my childhood.

Maybe I'll be one of the people who hates it, maybe I'll love it.

Here goes somethin'.

I haven't found anything suggesting it and it seems out of place that after that huge climb, you go back down and then there's this off topic convo that wasn't even suggested in the OG. I mean, if they were gonna include a hidden convo wouldn't it be something more in keeping with the current task? Like Barret bitching they just hauled ass up there and now they're at the bottom again?

oh my fuck I hate the "platforming" segments in this game.

Tifa, ILU, but getting you to jump across those lights was maddening and painful.

It reminds me of the same disorientation of the OG when you'd enter a room, then immediately exit a room by mistake -__-

I've been sitting on this game for a while now, and almost done. I'm still having a blast, but the dumb parts about it are starting to stick out like a sore thumb.

Example, how the fuck does no one in the Shinra building not recognize anyone from the bombing live stream.

I could look past that in the slums due to not having access to that kind of tech. Even then, Barret and co. are constantly yelling AVALACHE!!! everywhere they go how the fuck are we supposed to believe this is a secret.

That being said, Mayor Domino truly is the best

Actually Cloud and Tifa never actually appeared in the bombing Livestream (it was just recycled footage of part of the Reactor 1 raid), so their faces aren’t known. And Barret only appeared briefly in it, so I suppose you could just chalk it up to people not paying attention well and/or more Mayor Domino intervention. Either way, even in the OG, the Shinra building break-in always pushed the suspension of disbelief more than other parts of the narrative.

Yeah, I noted that in some other thread, but Shinra HQ is always one of the "this is a game" moments of the entire VII. There is just simply no way any of those events, in the Remake or in the OG (specially in the OG because Remake atleast tries to explain some of it), would ever happen in a minimum secure place like a freaking HQ of the world controlling company. I tend to get carried away by stuff like that, so yeah...not the greatest sequence for me.

For me its more of a general world building issue than Shinra HQ specifically.

Barret is just... the most heatscore person in the world. He has a goddamn gun for an arm, in a world full of suits and college kids gentrifying an urban neighbourhood. In areas filled with regular civilians, he and Cloud especially look like they're running home from an anime con. Maybe its a result of the OG NPCs just being g blocky blobs, but there aren't many that look like those two (Tifa and Aerith blend in alright).

Also the fact that they're constantly yelling stuff like AVALANCHE YEAH GO AVALANCHE in the early chapters. Its just so silly believing they're actually able to keep anything on the downlow. They're like those friends at the party who starts yelling HEY WHATS GOING ON IN HERE when you're trying to discreetly bust lines in a bathroom stall :monster:

I mean I do find it pretty comical (which I think its intended to be to an extent) but come on.
