Thus far this page concerns only the differences in the text between the North American and European English versions.
Almost all differences here are inconsequential and mundane, and don’t actually display differences between American English and European English as it were, but nevertheless the discrepancies will be noted here. Sections that differ are marked in bold.

When Zack says “off-base” there is no hyphen in the North American version, but Kunsel’s immediate reply “Off-base?” is written with a hyphen in both versions.

{VAR} ㎝ to exit | [VAR} cm to exit |
A single symbol is used to represent centimetres in the North American version. In the European version it is written as “cm”, using two letters. The single-symbol “㎝” does still exist in the European text table though.
The text window reading how far away the exit is has been moved up a few pixels in the European version.

Search and Destroy II | Search and Destroy 2 |
The location name for the map display and the main menu both derive from the same game file and here they show a difference in regards to the roman numeral “II” versus the Arabic numeral “2” in the title to mission 7-2-2.
If you look at the mission name as displayed in the mission menu, accessed from the main menu while Zack stands on a save point, it reads “Search and Destroy II” in both English versions of Crisis Core. This is possible because the mission menu text is from a different text register than that for the main menu and map display.
We can end the field text with a piece of trivia. Almost every area in the game contains the same set of debug messages. One of these reads “Nothing more to do, kupo!” in the North American version, while in the English European version it reads “Nothing I can do, kupo!”.

SOLDIER members, I thank you for your daily hard work. Upon receiving a report on an unspeakably tragic incident, I find myself thinking about parental bonds. Just as happiness can be found in non-biological ties, parent and child can be unhappy even if tied by blood. The difference is whether or not there are feelings of respect and appreciation. Without them, “ill blood” is born. Ill blood is prone to lead to tragedy, and ill blood sometimes affects our missions. While SOLDIER must always execute our missions quickly, we must also focus on risk prevention in the future. |

I had received word of recent activity in Modeoheim. The area was once a candidate for mako excavation, but now it’s nothing but a deserted village. This reporter actually found a piece of equipment– a pod, to be exact–used in the experiments. When I revisited the facility at a later date for a more thorough investigation, the equipment was gone. A full-scale effort to follow the pod’s trail revealed that it made a stop at Nibelheim before it was carried to another location. |

The Cactuar enemy appears in the following missions and with these names attached.
Mission | Cactuar Name: North American |
Cactuar Name: European English |
3-1-3 | Kactuar | Kactuar |
9-4-3 | Kactaar | Kactaar |
9-6-1 | Kactuare | Kactaar |
10-1-1 | Kactuar | Kactuar |
10-1-2 | Kactuar | Kactuar |
10-1-3 | Kactuar (common encounter) Kactuer (boss/target) |
Kactuar (common encounter) Kactuar (boss/target) |
In short, the North American version uses four variations: Kactuar, Kactuer, Kactaar and Kactuare.
The European English version only uses two: Kactuar and Kactaar.
The European version does a mistake here by having the boss target in mission 10-1-3 have the same name as the normal encounters, despite it having higher stats than the normal encounters.
