Once again, a big thank you to hitoshura for providing translations for the “Link to the Original: Final Fantasy X” section from the Dissidia Final Fantasy Ultimania. Enjoy the Spiran nostaligia!

FFX was the first in the FF series to introduce voice acting. Its memorable dialogue shows up in Dissidia FF as well.

– In Destiny Odyssey X, Tidus’ thoughts and feelings are revealed through monologues, the same technique used in FFX. In FFX, the story used the structure of Tidus, standing before the final destination of his journey, telling what had happened so far, with Tidus’ monologues interjected at various points. Also in common with FFX is referring to the path one should follow as a “story”. Dialogue from the end of FFX also appears in Dissidia.

This is my story, after all.“-Tidus

– In Shade Impulse C3-5, Tidus asks Warrior of Light to remember the fact that they have fought together every now and again, even when they return to their own separate worlds. This is based on a line from FFX’s ending by the heroine Yuna: “The people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded…Never forget them.

– In Destiny Odyssey X-5, Jecht tells Tidus that he should take a chance and “think of something“. This was what was said to him in FFX by his friend, Auron. In FFX he brushed this off, saying “I ain’t gettin’ any younger, so I might as well make myself useful” but in Dissidia he says it to remonstrate his son, adding that “you’re still young.

– In Shade Impulse C1-4, it is revealed that Jecht was once on the side of Cosmos. This is following on from his role in FFX, of having once journeyed to save the world but now having become the enemy of the world.

– Jecht’s line in Destiny Odyssey X-3, “Well, well, if it isn’t my boy“, was originally what he said to Tidus as a child.

– The scene in Destiny Odyssey X-4 where Tidus gets the urge to scream out is based on the event at Kilika Temple in FFX.

– Tidus’s line in Shade Impulse C2-5, “there are no dreams or hope“, is from FFX when he arrives at the ruins in the sea.

(Note: This line is a reference to when Tidus first arrived at Baaj Temple and said to himself through narration, “I had made it out of the frying pan…and into the freezer. I thought I was going to die in this place.” The English game retooled this line from the original in Japanese, thus this original Japanese line is extremely hard to tie to the English game script.)

– Tidus’ line in Shade Impulse C3-1, “I can’t stand acting like an adult and not doing anything!“, is a reference from FFX when he is tries to convince everyone to defeat Sin without using the Final Aeon.

– Tidus’ line in Shade Impulse C4-1, “these are actually the best times to practice smiling!“, comes from his conversation with Yuna at Luca in FFX.

– Tidus’ motions in the ending are the same as FFX’s ending, when he disappeared.

– In the Shop help, Rikku introducing herself as “in charge of keeping things merry” is based on her line when she joins the team in FFX.

Battle Voice Pick Up

I’m the one and only ace here!” — Tidus: verses Tidus

Link: Towards the end of FFX’s story, Tidus says an equivalent to the party member who jumps ahead of him from the deck of the airship onto Sin’s back.

How do you compress time? I’m getting dizzy……” — Tidus: verses Ultimecia

Link: In FFX, to cover up why he didn’t know Spira’s customs, Tidus told people that he came in contact with Sin’s Toxin and that he was confused.

You’re the final chapter in my story.” — Tidus: verses Jecht

Link: The basis of this is the line Tidus murmurs to himself before the ruins of Zanarkand: “The last chapter in my story….

This might be the end…” — Tidus: verses Chaos

Link: Based on Tidus’ line from FFX’s opening, and what he says to everyone when they arrive at the Zanarkand ruins.

Gonna cry? Are you gonna cry?” — Jecht: start of battle

Link: His stock phrase for teasing the young Tidus. In FFX, he says it in Tidus’ dream and after their last battle.

… Let’s end this, huh?” — Jecht: verses Tidus

Link: Before the final battle in FFX, he says this to Tidus. His quote at the start of battle, “I won’t be able to hold myself back!“, was also in FFX.
