Hitoshura’s been working hard, and has given us another bit from the Dissidia Final Fantasy Ultimania. This time the, “Link to the Original: Final Fantasy 6” section has been translated and is up for you to read!

FFVI’s story of tracing Terra’s growth, and some of Kefka’s many famous lines, find their way into Dissidia FF.
Dissidia Artwork: Terra

– In Dissidia, Terra had previously operated as a pawn of Chaos. This is derived from the fact that in FFVI, she was a soldier for the Gesthal Empire in its plot for world domination. In FFVI Terra was manipulated by the empire, and lived like a weapon. In Destiny Odyssey III-4, when Terra is out of control, she is wearing the ‘Slave Crown’ once again which appeared in FFVI.

terra-enemy-stats

(Note: The stats of Terra as an enemy in Destiny Odyssey III-4. She’s equipped with a “Slave Crown” accessory.)

– In Shade Impulse C4-1, Terra says, “Let’s fight to protect the future together. And… we’ll definitely go back home.” This is based on the line in FFVI, where Terra joins the party after the destruction of the world.

– At the start of Destiny Odyssey VI, Terra has no recollection of what happened while she was out of control. While anxious about her lack of memory, she begins to move forward with the support of her allies. This is the same as the opening of FFVI. Also, when Onion Knight says that “I’ll protect you, Terra“, this is a recreation of Locke’s role in FFVI.

kefka-destruction
– “You’re all nothing more than fleas compared to me now!” “What a bore!” Kefka brought with him many memorable lines in FFVI. In Dissidia, these show up in cut scenes as well as other areas. The dialogue from before the final battle in FFVI is also recreated. (“Why do people insist on creating things that will inevitably be destroyed? Why do people cling to life, knowing that they must someday die? …Knowing that none of it will have meant anything once they do?“)

– In the Artifact help Celes says, “If you make them eat just whatever fish you find, you’ll regret it…” This is referring to the time she was looking after Cid on the island in FFVI.

– In the Duel Coliseum help, Setzer’s line “After all, life is just a succession of bets to shape one’s future…” is what he says when he joins your team in FFVI.

(Note: This line being referred to was changed in the english script of FFVI. In english it became, “Gambling against the Empire, with nothing to lose but my life… I haven’t felt so excited in years! My life is a chip in your pile! Ante up!“)

– In the Duel Coliseum help, Shadow’s line “the path of carnage, with nothing but battles” is his line when he rejoins the team after the destruction of the world in FFVI.

(Note: Another reference to a retooled line in the English FFVI script. The line was changed to, “The only thing I know how to do… I’m fighting.“)

– In the Duel Coliseum help, Relm’s line “I’m drawing your picture!” is her set phrase for when she’s angry.

– In Battle Tips 16, Selphie writes “…Whenever you think you’re right, you’re wrong. And that’s a big mistake.” This is Setzer’s line from the ending of FFVI.

– In the Mission help, Biggs and Wedge’s dialogue comes from when they explain the characteristics of the first boss, Ymir, in FFVI.

– Featured among the items is the Kappa series, powerful equipment from FFVI.

Battle Voice Pick Up

Everyone lusts for power, it seems?” — Terra: victory
Link: Terra struggles with the vast power she houses. In FFVI, after the Espers are changed into magicite in the Thamasa Village, she murmurs this before General Leo’s grave.

But I’d finally begun to understand…” — Terra: defeat
Link: In FFVI, after the destruction of the world, Terra’s line when you speak to her when switching party members forms the basis for this line.

You are less than worthless!!” — Kefka verses Emperor Palamecia
Link: Based on what Kefka says as he finishes off the Emperor of Gesthal in FFVI. A parody for a different ‘Emperor’.

(Note:The line in english was, “Oh dear… Well, I guess I was a bit hasty in calling you a useless old man before… NOW you’re useless!“)

Goody two-shoes!” — Kefka verses Cecil
Link: The same as what he says to General Leo in FFVI. Does Kefka just not care for honest and popular characters like Leo and Cecil?

You’ll be well done!” — Kefka: when using ‘Extra Crispy Firaga’
Link: In FFVI, on the Magic Continent Kefka, after having betrayed Emperor Gesthal, says this as he attacks with the power of the Warring Triad.

Un-be-LEEEVE-able!” — Kefka: defeat
Link: Said when being thrown in jail in the imperial castle, or when he turns the Espers into magicite in Thamasa. One of Kefka’s famous lines in FFVI.
