Link to the Original: Final Fantasy IV- p. 262 of the Dissidia Ultimania
by Makoeyes987 February 8, 2009 0 commentsHitoshura must’ve had a limit break, because he’s gone and translated another portion from the Dissidia Final Fantasy Ultimania. This time the, “Link to the Original: Final Fantasy IV” section is up and ready to read!
FFIV featured a vast cast of characters. They show up in the the help sections of Dissidia FF, and still as colourful as ever.
– In Destiny Odyssey IV-5, before fighting Golbez, Cecil uses his sword to fire off surges of darkness. That pose and the course the surges fly in are the same as the pixel image of Cecil’s unique command “Darkness” in the SNES version of FFIV. When he uses “Darkness” during his EX-Burst “Double Phase”, his pose there is based on this as well.
– In Shade Impulse C2-4, when Golbez is defeated by any character but Cecil, Golbez’s final words are “The body dies…but the spirit lives on.” In FFIV, this is said by Zemus, one of the People of the Moon who was controlling Golbez, when he was killed.
– In Dissidia FF, Golbez’s Four Lords and the Magus Sisters, who appeared in FFIV as enemies, return as summons. The message displayed when you obtain these summons are based on their dialogue in FFIV, and their character still comes across strongly.
“How dare you call me so shamelessly! But… I’ll look after you for a while.”-Barbariccia
The dialogue from FFIV from when the Four Lords attacked you has been altered for Dissida, where they are now assisting you.
“We’re the Magus Sisters, Sandy! And Cindy! I’m Mindy! Remember us!”-Magus Sisters
When you obtain the Magus Sisters AUTO, the message is based on the line from the Tower of Zot in FFIV.
– Cecil’s finishing pose of his EX-Burst “Double Phase” is the same as the opening of the DS version of FFIV, when he stabs at Golbez.
– In the Summon Gem help, Rydia says “I’m not scared of Bombs or fire now!” This comes from when she overcame her trauma after her village was burnt down by the Bomb Ring. Also, “Coward! You’re a man, aren’t you! An adult, aren’t you!” is her line when she is rebuking Glibert at Castle Damcyan.
– In the Summon Gem help, “Hide”, the skill Gilbert uses, is his unique ability in FFIV. “Aaagh!!!!” is what he says when he is attacked by Antlion.
– In the Online Battle help, Palom’s line “Ha! Too easy!” is from when they put out the fire at Mount Ordeals. “Oh, give me a break, man!” is from when he figured out Baigan’s identity.
– In the Play Plan help, when it says that fat chocobos are idolized by the dwarfs, this is because in the castle of the dwarfs in FFIV, fat chocobos are called the “Godsbird”.
Battle Voice Pick Up
“T”This is a fight for me and me alone.”” — Cecil verses Cecil
Link: In the Mountain of Trials in FFIV, this is Cecil’s line when, after becoming a Paladin, he challenges his past Dark Knight self.
“All that matters is what’s inside.” — Cecil: victory
Link: In the ending of FFIV, this is based on a line from one of the party members Rydia: “All that matters is what’s inside us. Isn’t that right, Cecil?”
“I’m… a coward…” — Cecil: defeat
Link: This is based on a line from the opening of FFIV, when Cecil says to Rosa, “Still, I can’t defy the king… I’m a hopeless coward.”
“This is my greeting” — Golbez: using “Gravity Force”
Link: In FFIV, when meeting Cecil for the first time at Castle Fabul, Golbez says “It’s unfortunate that we’ve only just met, but this is my greeting!”
(Note: Yeah, as usual, the line was changed in the english version. The equivalent english line from FFIV DS is, “Allow me to give you something – a gift to remember our meeting by!”)
“Come forth, my creature of shadow!” — Golbez: activating EX-Mode
Link: His line from FFIV when he fights Cecil. His line when he is defeated in this scene, “This cannot… this cannot be!” is also voiced in Dissidia.
“You are trapped by hatred.” — Golbez: verses Gabranth
Link: In FFIV, Golbez was trapped by his profound hatred, due to Zemus, one of the People of the Moon. He seems to see his past self in Gabranth.
