Laguna Loire from FF8 joins Dissidia Duodecim 012!

by December 8, 2010 0 comments

A new scan from Weekly Shonen Jump has been posted. Laguna Loire from Final Fantasy VIII has been added to Dissidia Duodecim 012! As expected, his fighting style involves the use of his machine gun, which fires repeatedly as you hold the button allowing you to run at the same time as well.

Also, a world map has been added, which unsurprisingly, looks like the world map of Final Fantasy.

There’s no love for Chaos and crew…. No Seifer, doubtful about Seymour with Auron and especially Yuna being more popular. Jecht and Kuja are already confirmed for Cosmos’ side story wise anyways. I’m very happy to see Laguna get a spot don’t get me wrong. He’s an all new playstyle and a hardcore favorite, but the balance of light and dark has truly shifted… I SUMMON GILGAMESH!!!!

*runs around squealing hysterically for 10 minutes*

    EPIC.

I was wondering what they were going to do with FFVIII but I have to admit that Laguna didn’t cross my mind. Glad to have another adult on Team Cosmos, well, adult in age only. Is this 27 year old Laguna we’re getting then or is he going to have the 44 year old version as an alternate outfit? Ah well, Laguna is awesome. This whole game is awesome. You guys are awesome for posting this! Thank you!

With him, Kain, and Lightning on the team, the number of Adults on the Cosmos side now Balances out the children, when you add Jecht and minus Terra/Tina.

WoL, Cecil, Kain, Cloud, Laguna, Jecht, Shantotto, Lightning
Vs Firi, OK, Bartz, Squall, Zidane, Kuja, and Vaan

Yes, I did before reading the article, but I don’t know if CloudS added the info before or after I pointed it out.

Yeah, Laguna is cool and all but…… A World-Map! God only knows how much I waited for the comeback of a traditional World-Map like this one in a FF game. Thankyou Square-Enix, thankyou!

Now it’s just knowing how it’s gonna work in the storyline.
Do you guys think it will have secret locations and/or bosses? Maybe even an airship(the world’s continents are separated by the ocean, after all)!

I’d like to guess the World Map we saw in the grab might be involved during the Duodecim equivalent of Shade Impulse (since we only saw the new guys there, it might be that the 10 heroes we see in DFF have already been offed or otherwise incapacitated) as Garland/Chaos have restored the world to the origin point of FFI since that’s where Chaos, Cosmos and Cid all come from. Wild guess here, I’ll admit, but I think it’d be a interesting way to keep the new guys occupied without having to kill them off.

But restoring things to FFI might help explain how Chaos began to regain his memories during the 13th cycle and why Garland was so keen to keep him from finding out too much. Another possibility could be Cid of the Lufeine showing up and meeting up with Cosmos, during which she plans out her gambit for the 13th cycle. It might also connect to the unreleased 3rd Alts for Warrior of Light and Garland. I’d quite like to see Cosmos as a boss in this game though through the villain destiny odyssies of course.

Perhaps the seperate continents will each host a boss? Maybe the original four fiends shall return as secret bosses (I can’t see them being playable characters), allied with Garland and Chaos naturally and when defeated become summonstones? I’m not sure about the locations though since I haven’t played that much of I. Does anyone have any clues about locations that might link to DFF?

      And again: YAY! LAGUNA!!! Ahem…
