Very glad it’s not as literal as the title made it seem.
Not that I care who the Hell Aerith (or Tifa) is with (they can both have Cloud, for all I care), but just please leave Zack out of it. He’s too great of a character. Besides, Aerith seems to have made her choice for Cloud, too.

This article downplays CxA because it says Zerith is canon, and it’s not. Zerith is in the past. It’s over and Clotis don’t get it. Aerith broke up with Zack in Crisis Core, maybe try playing it?
And that article DID say CxT is canon. That’s the problem. The actual page is talking about romantic love between characters, and they show BOTH Cloud and Tifa and Cloud and Aerith. yet this site ignored the Cloud and Aerith picture. I’ve had to tell so many of my friends that Cloti is not canon and they all began boycotting this site because it’s nothing but a bunch of bias Cloti lies.
If you want to see some essays that have actual facts in them try cloudandaerith.com. I’d like to see you read that and still think Cloti is canon.

Yeah, I’ve done my homework. I know the CloudxAerith arguments and I’m not buying it. I don’t feel like listing them all here, but throw them at me and I’ll knock them right back. I’ll start with what I listed, just for good measure: Cloud was the one who invited Tifa out to the well, he wanted to join SOLDIER to impress HER.
That promise was more than he could have hoped for.
He forgot because he was basically brain-damaged, you don’t get to choose what you forget and what you don’t, he forgot Zack too, remember? (heh.)
Aerith is his white mage? Okay, FFVIII did that, so did FFIX, and FFX; ignoring that they all came after VII, god forbid Square did something DIFFERENT. Different is good, at least until it becomes FFXIV.
Aerith got Cloud to smile at least twice. Once when he was having a chuckle at her expense, and once when he had all of his burdens lifted from his shoulders. Yeah, he’s head over heels for sure.
Just because Zerith is in the past that doesn’t make it non-canon, and technically Aerith never broke up with Zack.

Way to display your ignorance. You didn’t read the Priest article; For your information, that picture of the couple kissing surfaced back before Advent Children came out and people came up with rumors that the people in the picture were Tifa and POSSIBLY Cloud or a new character altogether.
The rest of the Priest article is about how the movie seems to pay homage to Final Fantasy VII, as well as other scifi and fantasy movies such as Blade Runner and Aliens. Also the characters are never said to actually BE Cloud and Tifa, merely inspired somewhat by them. But you are drawing the wrong conclusions from what you skimmed from the article because there is no ‘Aerith-Character’ in the movie too.
I don’t think it’s so much that she was dumping him. It came off more like, “If I ever see you again, I’ll be happy to see you; but in the meantime, It’s time for me to move on.”
