Advent Children Complete to have a new ending theme
by KuraudoStrife March 26, 2009 0 commentsNow it’s official, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will have a different ending theme, but it won’t be the terrible song from the fake trailer. Kyosuke Himuro will be back to sing it again, along with Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance). The music will be called “Safe and Sound” and SQUARE-ENIX will be releasing it on April 29 at iTunes store.
Also, TLS forum member rickysee to bring the sample video to the music to our attention
You can check it here in this new trailer: http://www.himuro.com/jpn/safeandsound (click on “TRAILER”)

Edit: Hitoshura did a translation of the info from the official Himuro site, which talks about the song and its creation. You can read more about it below. Thanks again, hito!
[ On the song “Safe And Sound” ]
Gerard worked on the lyrics and composition of this song, which he wrote after meeting Himuro and with Himuro’s views on music and his vocals in mind. Incidentally, this is the first time Gerard has created a song for someone other than his own band. Naturally, he is also supplying vocals alongside Himuro, and is also taking on the role joint producer with Himuro. Starting off with an acoustic demo, they worked out the final arrangement during 4 days worth of recording, and the song was complete. In order to convey the lyrics directly, Himuro chose not to create Japanese lyrics but to sing the English lyrics as they are.
[ On the recording and participating musicians ]
Recording took place at LA’s long-standing “Sunset Sound Recording Studio”. This studio has played host to legendary rock bands such as The Doors, Led Zepplin, and the Rolling Stones, as well as new artists such as Jet and Pink. The sound producer was Greg Wells, who is know for his production work with artists such as Mika, Pink, and Rufus Wainwright. And it also features a distinguished line-up of band members. On drums, Josh Freese who is well-known as drummer for Nine Inch Nails and who has taken part in Himuro’s past albums. And on bass, an indispensable part to Josh’s rhythms, Dan Rothchild [?], and on guitar a familiar face in Himuro’s music, Tim Pierce.
[ Their meeting in the LA music scene ]
Himuro has been based in LA since 1997, and out of its music scene lists young artists such as Maroon 5 in his favourite artists, but says that My Chemical Romance are also one of the bands he has taken notice of since before their big break. As well as his compositions, he said he especially related to the view of the world in Gerard’s lyrics.
Meanwhile, before working as a musician, Gerard has experience working in animation, and from his current work as a comic book creator, has a strong interest in Japanese culture. Not only have they achieved tremendous popularity in the US and UK, but since his major debut in 2004 he has visited Japan 5 times, and on the Japanese leg of his 2007 world tour selected Japan’s temple of rock, the Nippon Budoukan, to hold their concert.
Last spring, by chance Gerard moved into the area of LA where Himuro resides. When one of Himuro’s friends who knew he was interested in Gerard as a musician told Gerard about this, he visited Himuro’s home. The two hit it off, and started working together. From the end of September last year, right after the end of Himuro’s tour, up to the end of the year, there were many discussions between Himuro and Gerard and they finally started recording for the first time this year.
[ Further collaboration with Final Fantasy ]
And, in the midst of this recording, the offer came from Japan for providing music for “Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete” (16th April 2009 release), the BluRay Disk complete version of “Final Fantasy VII Advent Children”, which released in 2005 to great world-wide success. At the release of “Final Fantasy VII Advent Children” in 2005, Himuro received fervent requests from the staff, including the director Tetsuya Nomura, and he offered “Calling” from his second album to be used as the ending theme. The film was a massive hit, selling 1000000 copies in Japan and 4100000 copies world-wide.
For the release of the complete version on BluRay Disk, he once again received the offer to provide music, and with the resonance between the sense of scale of Himuro & Gerard’s compositions, the worldview of Final Fantasy and the fusion of entertainment melding music and visuals, they gladly offered “Safe and Sound”. Himuro & Gerard’s collaboration with Final Fantasy was set.

It won’t work for me! D:
So like…how do these two even know each other anyway? This has got to be the weirdest collab EVER. XD
It won’t work for me either, must be some funky plugin required. Anyone have a Youtube linky?
You have to hit the little play icon that’s to the left of the title. It doesn’t play automatically. It looks like a black triangle. It confuzzled me too. I was expecting it to play but you have to click that first.
oic, thanks :monster:
Gerard Way? As in… My Chemical Romance Gerard Way!?
Yes, it is looneymoon.
Hmmm there’s new things on this trailers… like Denzel’s parents picture burning, the news headlines and MAAAAAN this fight is AMAZING!!
Wow. The fight scene is epic.
Wow. This must be a disappointment to Cleriths. ‘Calling,’ was supposedly revolved around Cloud and Aerith’s love story. Shame that Square Enix is replacing it. :monster:
And Gerard Way… thank goodness I can hardly hear him.
Himuro got Gerard for the “UOOOOOOO UOOOOOOOOOOOO”…. the only part I can hear him.
LOL, well, I can hear that. :monster:
Gee Sings A Whole Verse..After The First Chorus I Think.
I Really Like This Song, It’s Catchy(:
I like this song better than Colling, actually.
and I hear Gerard doing the “Woooaaah hoooo” backup vocals only. Still very wtf that Square would get the lead singer of some emorock band to work with. Then again… the 14 year old fangirl in me knows that Mr. Way probably wanted onto the project *shames*
Is he like a FFVII fan or something?
I wouldn’t be surprised, all Americans and emos are, :monster:.
LOL
guess he’s fan of himuro rather than FF-fans
Wow…I like this song. Yeah, I definitely like this more than Calling.
And I want to see this. Now. Gosh they sure know how to fucking TEASE by just giving so little new footage. I can’t fucking wait. Wow.
This song is pretty cool, I like it more than Calling too. Great find rickysee, look forward to entire song 🙂
The new scenes were awesome of course 🙂
My Chemical Romance in MY Advent Children?
It’s more likely than you think.
😛
Not feeling it. I kinda wish I could understand the words.
You should be able to, they’re meant to be English :monster: Apparently Gerard Way wrote the lyrics for this, and Kyosuke Himuro decided to sing them in English instead of making a Japanese version.
The key phrase here being “meant to be.” :monster:
ZOMG I GOT IT TO WORK AND HOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! ^________________^
I was not expecting new stuff!
😀
The fight scene is awesome. xD
Awesome trailer. I really like the new track too. ^^
Is that sarcasm?
Why??
Because it’s…you.
Holy shit! It IS me! =o
I think Tet means that he expected you to hate it.
If you can even read this from the text being so tiny!
Yeaah, I knew what he meant, you silly waffle.
lol Waffle? XD
Hell froze over. I am literally shocked.
A good shock mind you. That’s pretty cool. You are just so full of surprises sometimes. XD
By the way, it says “Avent” instead of “Advent” in the headline.
Hey, I like it already! xD
So, they went for a more rock song this time… I think it fits better, but I’d like to know the lyrics as well. And it’s not really that bad, especially when I read about MCR. But I’m liking it more than Calling.
You sure Mr MCR isn’t doing the guitar too? Eh, either way.
He wrote the lyrics and the music. From the site:

Holy crap time to bring in the celebrities.
Also wait, is this saying that the song is in English?
Sounds Japanese to me, though. :/
You can’t hear the English?
“And all my hopes and dreams, [something], I keep them safe and sound. // [Some stuff] can you hear me now?”
I’d wait for the lyrics, though. He probably should have made Japanese lyrics :monster:

Can someone upload it to youtube please? I have crappy dial-up and its all choppy…it doesn’t even save when its finished loading…it just reloads…
*cries*
Looks awesome, but they’ve made a terrible decision by putting that new trailer up on a tiny screen without means of doing it full screen.
Also, the song’s about as ghey as the previous ending theme. The previous one was at least somewhat original, this one’s far from it, =D.
great, another reason to associate cloud with my chemical romance.
Eh, I haven’t heard it yet as I’m still at work, but I have to say that Gerard’s been pretty impressive in managing to get himself involved in almost any gaming / comic-related project that he wants.
I’ll make a statement about the song itself when I get a chance to hear it.
X
The song is actually quite decent, and I approve of the change from the original. It’s much more upbeat, and I think that it fits the tone quite well.
