Here’s The First Official Trailer For The Final Fantasy X HD Remaster (via Kotaku)

Update: the English trailer has now been released, and you can watch it here.

We only just got confirmation that the HD remasters of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 are coming to North America, and already the first official trailer has surfaced. So what if it’s partly in German? As far as we know, this trailer was supposed to come out tomorrow. We’ve reached out to Square Enix to see if their plans have changed now that the German version is apparently out, but we haven’t heard back yet.

In the meantime, enjoy the footage from the remastered Final Fantasy X, displayed at the highest quality that Youtube can manage. In addition to giving us a peek, the trailer confirms once again that X and X-2 will be sold separately on Vita, rather than bundled together like on PS3.

Final Fantasy V Being Remade for iOS and Google Play This Month (via TechnoBuffalo)

Final Fantasy V has long lost its title of the “Forgotten Final Fantasy” now that most fans in America have had plenty of time to get their hands on it. It’s also about to become a lot more accessible as well. Square Enix will be bringing the game over to iOS and Google Play in Japan later this month with an American release no doubt following shortly afterwards.

What’s confusing is that while the magazine scan claims that Square Enix will be porting the Game Boy Advance version of the game, there is an obvious difference in visual style. No longer the dumpy sprites used in the old days, these sprites are much taller and more defined, much more closely resembling their original iOS game Final Fantasy Dimensions.

Have your say: is Final Fantasy V the most under-rated game in the Final Fantasy series?

‘Final Fantasy’ music, scenes combine in a rousing concert (via Omaha World-Herald)

After watching “Distant Worlds,” a concert full of orchestral music from the “Final Fantasy” video games, I want to go home, dust off my old Nintendo and play through the series. I’m probably not alone. The concert, performed Thursday at the Holland Performing Arts Center, was sold out and full of more young people than I’ve ever seen there, let alone at an orchestral concert. Some dressed as characters from the series, such as Tidus, Yuna, the black mage and even a chocobo (sort of like a big chicken).

It was an entertaining celebration of music from the series, which included battle themes such as “Zanarkand” from the 10th installment of the series and character themes such as “Aerith’s Theme” from the seventh game. “Final Fantasy” composer Nobuo Uematsu, who created most of the music for the series as well as all but one song in Thursday night’s concert, was in attendance for the concert, which occurred on his 54th birthday. Fans cheered him several times and gave the composer several standing ovations.

Have your say: have you ever been to a Distant Worlds concert?

    Zanarkand isn’t a battle theme.

Good point. Please address your correspondence to the Omaha World-Herald, though.
