New Dengeki Playstation interview info with Tetsuya Nomura on FFVII AC Complete

by April 1, 2009 0 comments

• The entire article below was a lame April Fools joke •
It should neither be taken seriously nor cited as a reference

A new scan from the previous Dengeki Playstation interview with Nomura has surfaced online and we’ve got even more new info regarding Advent Children Complete! Here are some more translated portions that highlight the key features of the movie.

Edit: I have to apologize for some confusion regarding the scan and translator. Our staff member Ondore translated this Dengeki scan and I accidentally messed up the smaller image’s link to the full size scan in the post. I’ve gone ahead and fixed it. You should be able to see the scan much clearer now and see that it’s readable. Also, I fixed the source link as well. Again, thanks Ondore for the interesting, and rather…controversial news.

“Aerith had originally been seen as just a happy surprise for the fans, but her role in the story is much more. Expect her to play a bigger role throughout the story, on both a worldly, and in some cases, more personal scale for the characters.”

“Originally, Red XIII spoke very little but this was not our intention. Please enjoy the numerous humorous lines of Red XIII in the film.”

“In the original, Cloud clashed with Sephiroth once again after two years. Like the other reunions of this movie, his battle with Sephiroth stirs up old emotions of the past. In the previous edition, Cloud was triumphant against Sephiroth. But Cloud can’t always be victorious. The new rendition may surprise you.”

“In the original, we included Denzel to act as a firm connection to someone else for Cloud, one we didn’t get to address originally. In the new edition, Cloud wishes to rescue Denzel both out of his own responsibility, but also to preserve his connection with, well… you can see for yourself when it comes out [laugh]”

“The changes we’ve made to the movie include quite a lot of additional scenes detailing Cloud’s complex relationship with the deceased heroine Aerith. Later in the film, fans will be glad to see he is finally able to overcome his grief for Aerith, the woman who died before his eyes, and continue his life with this woman he cherishes.”

“At Nojima’s request, we’ve included the original ending of the 20 minute movie, but if we just repeated the same ending, it wouldn’t have been interesting. So you might be surprised to discover the truth about the message the children are delivering from a ‘special woman.'”

“There’s quite a lot of information in the story, so new viewers can enjoy the story without confusion. But this leaves old viewers who already know this a bit bored. So the idea was that while a lot of what we show is important, what’s truly important is what’s not shown. With that in mind, pay attention to what you don’t see as much as you pay attention to what’s there. You’ll be surprised at what’s in what isn’t there.”

They obviously can’t retcon things so humongously that Cloud is not alive in Dirge of Cerberus. Unless they make DoC non-canon, thus giving me the ultimate present of the year. *avoids incoming projectiles*

where are you guys getting this Clerith shit from? Sounds like Cloti to me. Remember the 20 minute movie ends very Cloti. And it sas he cherishes Tifa, so what are you talking about?

they’re chaning that ending, I though it was clearly stated. There are not doing a copy/paste thing here. So, it may not be Tifa, or even Aeris… that’d be somewhat amusing…

Alright, I don’t see how Cloud moving with his grief over a loved one’s death equates to him continuing his relationship with said dead loved one. I take the phrase “continue his life with this woman he cherishes” to be Nomura talking about Tifa. You can’t argue that Cloud is going to continue his life with a dead person. That doesn’t make sense. It makes more sense to just assume that “this” is being used to highlight the switch between subjects Aerith and Tifa.

“makes more sense to just assume that “this” is being used to highlight the switch between subjects Aerith and Tifa.”

no, it doesn’t make sense to assume that with as much context as we are given. The interpretation of that sentense is heavily influenced by what you want it to mean, so if you’re a Cloti fan you may be prone to stretch it that far. So, either the translation is bad, the interview is awkward, or (which is more probable) it’s refering to Aeris.

While its probable that this is a fake or that this is a bad translation, etc, it makes absolutely no sense for anyone to continue a relationship with a dead person.
To think that he could continue a relationship with the person he’s just gotten over being dead is… well, ridiculous I guess. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

No way is this real….funny how it’s April 1st and all that lol.

Regardless of who Cloud loves, his future is with the family he has made.

Don’t you love it how the scan is so small too. I’m assuuming only a very few here can read japanese here. I wouldn’t be surpirsed if that is all jibberish and none of us would be the wiser. And for a scan that small, the letters should almost be indistinguishable…

Nice try guys…Oh well, you made Clerii happy for the day 😉

Meh, I like both couples and I love Aerith….but come on! That whole thing reads like a rabid Cleris wet dream and fans take this shit too seriously. I just hope the stuff about Red XIII may be true…

I bought this Dengeki last night and the interview is on page 33. The main quote from Nomura is エアリスに対する想いが強すぎたのか、クラウドは緊張して畏縮していた

What Dengeki issue? Did we not just get the scans for the latest one…some people are just playing along.

LOL. Dude, I have no clue what that says…my point exactly.

Guys, they already did April fools. I see nothing wrong with this, in fact the whole thing sounds like a Cloti, remember the twenty-minute version they mentioned?

You guys are just reading into this to far, making it more complicated than it has to be by paying to much attemtion to one quote, rather than all of them.

Besides, they really can’t do Clerith, since Aerith is currently with Zack in the lifestream, not to mention that Cloud is clearly alive in DOC, and Aerith is clearly not.

No, it’s a very Cloti article, and I’m sure he didn’t mean that Cloud looses. Maybe he just doesn’t win as easily as he did in AC, because come on, that fight was WAAAAYYYYY too short. 😛

that can’t possibly be Aerith, because you can’t live with a dead woman. XD and Tifa is actually the one he lives with, so they meant that he continues his life with Tifa.. (the family) but i still wonder if this is supposted to be a joke 0.o
