Final Fantasy VII Materia-lises on Steam (via Joystiq)

Final Fantasy VII is as steamy as the Honey Bee Inn, now that it’s available via the Steam portal. The Steam version out this week is the same as last year’s PC re-release, complete with Cloud saves, achievements, and the Character Booster. It should be no surprise, then, that it’s going at the same price of $11.99/€12.99/£9.99.

Thanks to Shademp for letting us know.

SOLDIER 1st Class Themed Outfit Pre-Order Bonus for Lightning Returns (via Now Gamer)

It’s the Final Fantasy VII remake you’ve all been waiting for! Kind of. Maybe. Okay, it’s not. At all. But Square-Enix has shown off the pre-order trinkets for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – Cloud’s uniform, Buster Sword and Soldier’s Band. Lightning will also have Cloud’s victory animation and the victory fanfare from Final Fantasy VII.

Fairly obvious bit of fan-service and we feel dirty even writing this story but there you go. The closest you’ll have to a Final Fantasy VII remake for now. Even though it’s not that close at all. Sorry.

100 Things You Didn’t Know about Final Fantasy VII (via NeroNeroNeroN on YouTube)

Most of these have been known for years, others I have never cared to share.

Obviously, I did not find all of these peculiarities myself.
Some of these were found by Acro or KartSeven and a whole lot of other people. In fact, if you happen to be fluent in French, you can read about hundreds(!) more of these at ff7.fr .

Also, you are not really supposed to know any of these unless you are at the height of a powerful obsession with Final Fantasy VII. Actually, I’d be interested in learning how many of these were known to you, so tell me if you don’t mind.

Thanks to Shademp for the heads up.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Coming with New 30-Minute Epilogue (via Kotaku)

Did you ever think to yourself, “Hey, Final Fantasy X and X-2 are good and all, but what they really need is another 30-minute cut-scene during the credits?” You’re in luck!

According to the Japanese publication Shounen Jump, the upcoming HD remakes of FFX and FFX-2 (to be released on PS3 and Vita this fall) will come with a 30-minute cut-scene that plays over the compilation’s credits—presumably at the end of FFX-2.

I reached out to Square Enix earlier today for confirmation/further details, and I’ll update if I hear back from them. Hopefully they don’t go all Harry Potter on us: if this scene is set in the distant future and Tidus and Yuna have a kid named Jecht Auron I’m gonna break my TV.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Supports Cross Saves on the PS3 and Vita (via Playstation Universe)

Square Enix has confirmed cross-save support for the forthcoming high-definition revamps of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2.

Yoshinori Kitase, director of the Final Fantasy series, confirmed the news in his presentation at the Japan Expo in Paris this week

Steam is a website/service that sells PC games and allows you to earn achievements etc. Most PC games are available through Steam.
