Yuna’s Upper Body Confirmed!

by January 12, 2011 0 comments

We knew Yuna’s feet would be in Dissidia 012 but now a scan has revealed not only will her full body be in the game, but that she is indeed in her FFX “Summoner” iteration.

It looks like she can definitely summon Bahamut, and Shiva and Ixion are also believed to have been spotted out of those screens. Additionally her EX Burst is shown to be called “Sending.”

You also might notice a lady in red on the lower right. That would be Tifa of course in her third alternate which is based on her Amano concept art – which did indeed feature her in a red outfit.

I’m glad the summoner mode is her main look, it’s one of my favourite FF costumes! Though my biggest concern is does she go around barefoot for the entire game? I know Jecht’s badass enough to tread on anything with bare soles and not react but Yuna…? Eh, guess I have to apply Nomura’s ‘rule of cool’ here.

I wonder if she’ll also get some white magic in her moveset? Maybe a small regen feature or a special block? And how long is summoning going to take? Perhaps she’s going to follow the Black Materia/Starfall method for that, take about 10 seconds to load and then BOOM! Opponent screwed. Hopefully she’s going to be the new Gabranth or Exdeath of this game, difficult to master but explosive when achieved and all whilst looking fabulous in a hakama.

Now I secretly wish that one of her alts was the Bevelle wedding dress. If Squeenix has Yuna kicking ass in a white feathered gown, I’d never stop squeeing. I know it’s unlikely considering her vast wardrobe but I can dream!

Yuna likely won’t be barefoot. She wore boots in her Summoner outfit. She just went barefoot during that sending in Kilika, which seems to be what that barefoot shot of her in Duodecim was referencing.

Sorry, I was just being a bit romantic about the amount of press those bare feet got that I wondered if she might be without boots throughout the whole game. It seemed a bit silly to think about her taking them off just to pull off an homage but then again I haven’t seen the Duodecim scene in full yet so I can’t complain. Besides it’s Final Fantasy, I should embrace the silly for all it’s worth, it is the series that produced ‘Miss Cloud’ and Gilgamesh after all!

I have an idea what if Yuna just walks on the ground and when she summons an aeon you control the Aeon and jump around and attack with the aeons special attacks?

I am excited for this, trust me, yet also slightly disappointed. There have been many Summoner characters throughout the series, yet only three characters and one game where they could dressphere change. I feel that it’s a waste to make Yuna a summoner, rather than utilize a unique and interesting style that would involve changing job class in the midst of battle. This summoner style could have gone to Rydia, Garnet, or someone else, whereas the dressphere style has now been completely crossed out (unless future games include Rikku or Paine, which I highly doubt).

Not to mention I’m still confused how this will fit into the story of Dissidia, that dictates that all the summons have become summonstones and when they are summoned they just grant buff effects and don’t actually participate in the battle. How will they explain this with Yuna? I’m dying to know…

But oh well, I’ll get over it… And I do look forward to playing as her, despite my disappointments.

Well changing job class in battle wouldn’t really be that unique anymore given that Lightning does it.

I’d rather have acharacter from V or III use jobs primarily, much like they already do.

Maybe she has actual moves that use her basic summons (Bahamut, Shiva, and Ixion) as part of her moveset – and can replenish standard [O+R] summons more quickly or something. Either way, I’m more interested in Tifa or if a stock character like FFIX’s Garnet were to show up.

I was actually thinking if they’d implement a system like Folklore had. I kinda doubt it, but I suppose its an option.

Ooh, if Yuna’s there please add Dagger! Zidane is kinda lonely in there. Thats just being fair with Cloud and Tidus and their leading ladies.

That’s interesting. That’s A LOT of extra characters. And unless they start revealing one every week I don’t think they’d get them all out by release.

Also I find it dubious that they would ever include Quina or Red XIII…but thanks for the image! I’m gonna put this up in the forums, hope you don’t mind 😛

It’s a Fake, cos it was on internet BEFORE 012. And if you check, the artworks aren’t matching actual one. ( and it’s not Nomura’s style )

I only want to see Yuna summon Bahamut, Shiva and Ifrit. I heard Bartz can summon Ifrit now so I can only hope…

But Gunner/Songstress Yuna would’ve been awesome too. Mayhaps another time.
