The strategy that Cloze appears to employ in their recording is to clear the map of all Beast Soldiers, so they can then focus safely on defeating the Commanders.
DG Scout 1st Promotion Exam 《★★★》
*Video ends at 4:30, after which there is only darkness.

Cloze’s map showing the location of each Mako Capsule: Red dots represent the stationary DG Soldiers and blue dots represent capsules. The continuous stream of Beast Soldiers and two moving DG Soldiers also had to be dealt with in this mission.
Assault Mission 《★★★》
Base control simulation. Take the base with a small corps. |
Map | Church |
Maximum Participants | 2 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Destroy & Invade the Enemy Base |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +30 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 9 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 8000 Gil |
FFSG write the time limit as having been 5 minutes. This is not congruent with the above screenshot from Kupoa’s blog, which fits better the DCFFVII Wiki’s claim of the time limit having been 9 minutes.
The Jungle Elite Unit 《Trial》
Find and defeat as many DG Soldiers hiding in the Jungle as possible within the specified time limit. Co-operation is recommended for this mission. |
Map | Jungle |
Maximum Participants | 3 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Defeat DG Soldiers |
Conditions for Defeat | Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | Ranking Points based on performance |
Time Limit | 5 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 2000 Gil |
Eliminating the Bizarre Bugs likely did not aid in your final evaluation and so their presence was there to distract you from defeating the DG Soldiers.
Stolen Capsules! 《★★★》
It seems that the DG Soldiers who stole the Mako Capsules are hiding in Kalm. Defeat them and obtain all of the Mako Capsules within the specified time limit. |
Map | Kalm Streets |
Maximum Participants | 4 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Collect 7 Mako Capsules |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 4 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | 2000 Gil |
Time Limit | 8 Minutes |
Collector’s Mind Lv.2 《★★》
Mako Capsules have been placed in the sewer. Searching for them in such complicated terrain should be considerably difficult. Obtain all the Mako Capsules within the specified time limit. |
Map | Sewer |
Maximum Participants | 1 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Collect 7 Mako Capsules |
Conditions for Defeat | Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +15 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 15 Minutes |
Only the original “Collector’s Mind” was ported over to the Extra Missions. Its sequels, Lv.2 and Lv.3, were ignored.
Here is Cloze’s map showing the location of each Mako Capsule in Collector’s Mind Lv.2: 6 capsules (blue dots) would appear in the same spot every time you entered the mission, while the 7th capsule (purple dots) would spawn in one out of four possible locations.
Dual Horn Family 《★★★》
A flock of the rare animal, “Dual Horn” has been discovered. You who are confident in your abilities, team up and defeat them. Custom weapons are prohibited. |
Map | Wastelands |
Maximum Participants | 6 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Defeat 5 Dual Horns |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 12 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +60 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 10 Minutes |
Prohibited | Custom Weapons |
Pay to have cleared | 8000 Gil |
FFSG makes the odd claim that the time limit was 60 minutes. However the highest remaining time observed in screenshots is 8:45:48, which fits better with the DCFFVII Wiki’s statement of the time limit having been 10 minutes.
It is unknown if the prohibition of your own customized weapons limited only your guns and barrels or if this also included limiting your accessories (scope + option + accessory). It is also unknown exactly what weapons were forced on the player in Dual Horn Family, but all three gun types are shown to have been used: Handgun, Machine Gun and Rifle.
Green Mission 《Trial》
The specimens of the top secret experiment carried out in the research building have been stolen by a saboteur. In order to prevent data leakage, dispose of them as soon as possible. The specimens have a beligerent side to them, so be sure to exercise caution. |
Implemented | June 26 |
Map | Bridge |
Maximum Participants | 5 |
Mission Objective | Defeat Cactuars |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 5 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | Gil based on performance |
Time Limit | 10 Minutes |
Panic Matador 《★★★★》
Narrator: Regis |
Hoh hoh, this sure is a traditional game. Release soldiers into the beast cage and defeat them [the beasts] while keeping the soldiers alive. If even a single soldier is killed, you lose. |
Implemented | February 27 |
Map | Major Fault |
Maximum Participants | 6 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Defeat 3 Dual Horns |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 1 KO / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +60 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 8 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 12000 Gil |
Participants would randomly be chosen to spawn either inside the electromagnetic barricades or outside of them. While those on the outside were safe from the Dual Horns, they still had to be weary of the bull heads and try to make sure that their friends trapped with the Dual Horns still survive. Even a single KO, no matter who was defeated, meant a failed mission.
By clearing Panic Matador, you could then have your player character’s voice and “color” (suit style) changed by talking to Regis and paying him 30000 gil.
The DCFFVII Wiki lists the time limit at 6 minutes, but from the video recording and from screenshots we know the time limit was 8 minutes.
Rains of Gehenna 《★★★★》
Throw away all hope, those who enter this valley. The rainfall in the valley of Gehenna can not be overcome by any ordinary person. My simulation program is no game. Don’t you think this might be too much for you? |
Implemented | March 9 |
Map | Major Fault |
Maximum Participants | 1 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Collect 7 Mako Capsules |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 2 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +30 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 5 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 12000 Gil |
Extra Mission #13 of the same name, “Rains of Gehenna”, shares the challenge of having to channel one’s inner sniper. Multiple changes were made in the port however. The Extra Mission is more conservative with ammo, the time limit was removed and Mako Capsules were replaced with Mini EX Medals. What constituted the entirety of the online mission has become only the first half of the Extra Mission. Once the first 8 medals are collected, your task is then to leave the fault area and collect 12 more medals.
At coordinate J-4, above the stone arch, the second memory capsule could be found.
Destroying the capsule unlocked Scene 2 “The Transparent and the Silver” to the Event Viewer.
The exact position of this capsule was actually re-used for the Extra Mission version of Rains of Gehenna! In that mission, destroying the capsule unlocked the “Jump Festa Trailer (2005)” to be enjoyed via the Event Viewer.
The Giant Birds who Cry Death 《★★★》
Narrator: Ljungbery |
The research birds that had been exposed to toxic substances have escaped the facility. If you have the skills, send them back to the planet without having them suffer. However, long-term exposure may be dangerous. Please dispose of them within the specified time limit…… |
Implemented | March 9 |
Map | Jungle |
Maximum Participants | 3 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Defeat 5 Epiolnis |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +50 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 8 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 8000 Gil |
Researcher Ljungbery was described by blogger daijinn as possibly “the only decent researcher out of them all”. This claim is reflected in this mission’s description, where Ljungbery is hoping that the research birds won’t have to suffer needlessly.
Other notes imply that the research birds fought here are mutated human beings! This would explain why it was possible for one of the Epiolnis birds in the MS to drop a quest item called “Plain Earrings”. Presumably this is the earring worn by the former human. In order to advance through the game’s story you had to collect this earring and present it to Ljungbery.
Monster Box 《★★》
The research building team have successfully developed a special box. It’s sudden, but they would like to see if it can be used for experiments. In other words, it is your turn now. The only test condition is that magic is prohibited. I am not taking any questions. That’s all! |
Implemented | March 24 |
Map | Major Fault |
Maximum Participants | 1 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Defeat 3 Cactuars |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +30 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 3 Minutes |
Prohibited | Magic |
Pay to have cleared | 5000 Gil |
The official localization is “Boxemon” and it became Extra Mission #6. The time limit was removed and there is nothing to prevent the player from using magic as long as they find a way to fill their MP bar.
Destroying any of the 14 boxes would result in an enemy appearing from the box. The position of each box is unchanged going from online to offline. Your goal was to find the three Cactuars and defeat them.
The possible enemies remained the same when being ported over to the Extra Mission, but we only know how many of each enemy could appear in the offline version:
– 1 Dual Horn
– 3 Bull Heads
– 3 DG Generals
– 4 Red Saucers
– 3 Cactuars
With there being no way of telling which box holds which enemy, the mission relies heavily on luck.
This online mission held the third memory capsule, found at coordinate G-4.
Destroying it unlocked Scene 3 “Threat Level SSS” to the Event Viewer.
The Stolen Secret 《★★★》
Narrator: DGSC Jingi |
Shit! My treasured book has been stolen! This has to be the work of that thief Banban-G that people have been talking about. Of course, I wish I could take it back myself, but…… Bleeeaaaaarrrgghhhh!! |
Implemented | April 7 |
Map | Battlefield Ruins |
Maximum Participants | 1 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Defeat DGC Banban-G |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | “How to make Mako 10 times more fun” |
Time Limit | 5 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 8000 Gil |
The book you received here, the quest item “How to make Mako 10 times more fun”, is no doubt the treasured book stolen from Jingi. With DGSC Jingi being a mako addict, the topic of the book sounds right up his alley. The “bleeeaaaaarrrgghhhh” in the MS description is Jingi vomiting, which is a side-effect from his mako addiction.
Your opponent here, the thief Banban-G, would later face you in the Tsviet missions “Stolen Rare Gun” and “Last Banban-G”. Your strategy for defeating Banban-G in “The Stolen Secret” was to explode the drum cans in his path and to plant S-Mines. The task was relatively easy, with Banban-G always walking a pre-determined path.
Similar explosive strategies were important for “Stolen Rare Gun” but Banban-G’s AI became more advanced and did not follow a straight path in that MS.
Extra Mission #41 “Drumline” draws straight from the mechanics of the Banban-G missions but instead of a human being you have to destroy an otherwise invulnerable Dual Horn by luring it to explosive drum cans that you then trigger at the right time.
Standing behind the electromagnetic fence at G-5, one could spot the fourth memory capsule sitting at E-4.
Destroying the capsule unlocked Scene 4 “Azul’s Meal” to the Event Viewer.
The Gravekeepers’ Mako 《★★★》
Narrator: DGG Iruka (probably) |
Collect the Mako Capsules guarded by the seven gravekeepers, and turn them into Mako Powder. I’ll give you a pass if you bring them back safely. This is a test of courage, so I’ve limited your weapons to keep you on edge. |
Implemented | April 7 |
Map | Train Graveyard |
Maximum Participants | 3 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Collect 7 Mako Capsules |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 1 KO / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | Mako Powder |
Time Limit | 5 Minutes |
Prohibited | Custom Weapons |
Pay to have cleared | 8000 Gil |
DG Soldiers and DG Commanders appeared in this MS, with only the latter type dropping Mako Capsules upon defeat. The weapons forced upon the player in this mission are unknown.
After defeating the first three DG Commanders, three new would appear. These six commanders had fixed positions and once the sixth was defeated, the final commander would spawn and they would be a freely moving opponent.
Coordinates of commanders one to three:
– G-5, behind the barricade.
– C-7, behind the box.
– F-13, behind the box
Coordinates of commanders four to six:
– M-12, above the train.
– H-10, on the train.
– K-6, on the train.
Miraculous Servant 《★★★★》
Narrator: DGG Iruka |
Take a look. Look at the servants born out of the traces from the miraculous power of Mako Powder. I’ve blocked the exit so that you could fully experience this, so please enjoy your escape. |
Implemented | April 7 |
Map | Huge Facility |
Maximum Participants | 3 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Destroy & Invade the Enemy Base |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 1 KO / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +25 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 4 Minutes |
Prohibited | Custom Weapons |
Pay to have cleared | 12000 Gil |
The equipment forced here on the player was a Machine Gun + Short Barrel + Cure Materia. The exact machine gun is unknown.
The goal was to ascend through the corridor and destroy the enemy base at the top. Boxes blocked your path and enemies would be following behind you, so advancing forward quickly was key.
This became Extra Mission #17, “Messenger from Hell”. The time limit was changed to 3 minutes and because the offline game never uses the enemy base/station model, it was replaced with eight boxes that you had to destroy at the exit before reaching the goal point.
The description to Messenger from Hell reads as follows.
The dead have returned from hell and won’t stop until they take you back with them. Weapons have no effect against these undead foes, leaving you with only one option -- escape.
Indeed, gunfire has only a tiny effect on these enemies and you more likely to run out of bullets before you are able to defeat a single one of them. It is unknown if the enemies in the online version of this mission, Miraculous Servant, were equally nigh-invincible. The theme however of the dead returning appears similar to these “servants” DGG Iruka mentions here and in the missions “Iron ☆ Soul” and “Quick to Achieve Eager Rewards”.
Iruka is an NPC who was associated with the dead, as he was the one to give you the “Phantasmask” which was said to hold the spirits of dead Deepground soldiers. It sounds likely then that these servants Iruka speaks of are the reanimated dead or at the very least soldiers turned into mind-controlled puppets. The former interpretation appears likely, since Miraculous Servant leads directly into Light Bullet Oratorio which mentions banishing dusty souls…
Light Bullet Oratorio 《★★★》
Narrator: DGD Peliry |
With my Banish, you should be able to send back those dusty souls to the other side! Well, it requires quite a bit of magical power for that. If you search for Ether and store up magical power, fire a banish light bullet into a group of them!!! |
Implemented | April 7 |
Map | Sewer |
Maximum Participants | 3 |
Initial Supplies | 100 MB, 3 Potions |
Mission Objective | Defeat 20 Enemies |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | +30 Ranking Points |
Time Limit | 4 Minutes |
Prohibited | Custom Weapons |
Pay to have cleared | 8000 Gil |
The “Banish Materia” was only ever used for this mission and was mandatory equipment along with the Terashima machine gun. The one screenshot we have of the Banish spell makes it look similar to the Flash Materia’s spell, but with both these materia we lack video recordings to show what the spells looked like.
Light Bullet Oratorio was assigned after talking to DGD Peliry who was known as the online mode’s materia tutorial. This makes it likely that the Banish Materia came from Peliry and that he is trying to help you eliminate the “servants” created by Iruka. Only Peliry’s materia could deal damage to the enemies in this mission. Banish the living dead from this plane!
Defeating DG Soldiers and beasts counted towards your kill count. By collecting enemies into one spot, it was possible to defeat ten enemies in a single shot from Banish. Knowing the position of the Ethers was important to make sure you had enough MP.
Coordinates of Ether item:
– J-8, in the hole.
– I-11, behind the box.
– J-6, three Ethers above the container!
By clearing Light Bullet Oratorio, you could then receive the Phantasmask by talking to Iruka. The mask has the description “Headgear possessed by the spirits of deceased DG soldiers”.
Treasure Retrieval Order! 《★★》
A large amount of treasure was unearthed from around the jungle ruins. Although they are collecting and analyzing these in the research building, many people have taken advantage of the confusion to steal some treasures, and there have been reports of small fights breaking out. I would like you to bring all the treasure here instead of to the research building. |
Implemented | April 7 |
Map | Jungle |
Maximum Participants | 1 |
Initial Supplies | 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB |
Mission Objective | Collect 64 Silver Medals |
Conditions for Defeat | Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit |
Reward | 1500 Gil |
Time Limit | 4 Minutes |
Pay to have cleared | 5000 Gil |
To clear this mission easily it was important to knock down the bazooka soldier early and memorize the best path for picking up the Silver Medals.
While this is the only mission that employed Silver Medals, they were used for other aspects of the multiplayer. Silver Medals would be renamed “Mini EX Medals” for the Extra Missions where they were collected.
