I just finished listening to this, (1hr 14mins 18 seconds).

I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed. HUGE thanks to all the VA’s and the music artists involved. Everything connects and flows together flawlessly, and the familiar theme music really strikes a chord in a special way the elicits emotions so much more than just hearing the words, (“Why” caught me off guard more than I thought it would). I really can’t wait to see what the OTWTAS titles bring to the table. Again, fantastic job everyone! This is something to be incredibly proud of.

I really enjoyed it. Voice actors were nicely chosen and I can actually see the scenes in my mind while closing my eyes and listen to the recording.

Amazing! I really wasn’t expecting it to be this well done! All the voice actors and musicians did an incredible job! “Why” caught me off guard, too, just as it did X-SOLDIER. Everything just flowed perfectly. I am so impressed by all the hard work put into this masterpiece, and I can’t wait for the next audiobooks! Much appreciation to all who contributed to this!

    Love,

Absolutely fantastic job, all of you! I can’t wait for the next installment.

The stories are nice on their own, but having them voiced over brings a whole new depth and life to them, especially when its as well-done as this is.

Thank you for taking the time to work on this project!

Like Turk said, it adds a new perspective/depth. Great job on all the voice acting! (My favorite was Wedge/Biggs.)

Upon hearing this a second time, I don’t think I’d endorse these stories as canon because some of the aspects don’t make sense (such as Aeris being surprised that Zack was dead. At the end of CC, clearly something significant was taking place when Aeris startles and looks up; then the story flashes to Zack. Also, being an Ancient she reveals she can hear voices from the lifestream…) [/tangent]

Nevertheless, I greatly enjoyed this audio representation! Kudos–kupos?–to all! Looking forward to the next one!

It’s never officially been mentioned as a canon material (or even mentioned at all) in any of the later Ultimanias, even though it was published in Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Ω. However, it’s never been specifically stated that it isn’t canon either. Perhaps, most importantly though, it isn’t released as a part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, whereas OTWTAS is. For the most part within the community, this is why it’s not considered canon to the Compilation, and explains why it’s not 100% accurate to the events within the Compilation (like her reaction to Zack), in additon to the fact that it was written well in advance of Crisis Core. It’s the most ambiguous title for these reasons, and rather problematic in that sense, especially when trying to determine if it’s canon.

Overall, I like the idea that something similiar to this was going on after Aerith’s death, even if it’s specific events and interactions aren’t 100% accurate to those within the canon of the Compilation that we have now. I’d really like to see a Compilation revision of Maiden at some point to put all this to rest, much like Crisis Core did for Last Order, though it would unfortunately mean that there would likely need to be some revisions to this Audiobook if it happened.

Ah, the specifics! I did not know this was not related to OTWTAS. Thank you so much, this is very helpful information; it puts my mind at ease.

Yes, I love the depth of perspective in which this story is written, regardless of its canon standings.

Biggs and Wedge were great. 😀 “No, I wanna be leader!” Hah!

Personally, I don’t think Aerith is quite that psychic. She probably sensed that someone she knew or was close to had passed, but I doubt she would’ve assumed it was Zack. It’s also unlikely that Zack himself could speak to her. She doesn’t hear individual voices, but several speaking as a whole, because the Lifestream is just one big consciousness. :>

But who knows. 😛 I could be wrong.

She would probably be startled to see Zack there, regardless.

“Maiden” is a bad translation because Aerith is not a maiden. I think that “The Girl Who Travels The Planet” is a more correct English translation.

I think the word Maiden is has a romanticism about it, and a better flow.

Maiden isn’t a bad translation. The definition for “maiden” is a young, unmarried woman. Get your facts straight before you run your mouth.
