The Lifestream: Open For Business

by September 25, 2008 0 comments

Welcome to The Lifestream (.net), a new and (hopefully) original take on providing news, backgrounds and articles on the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, a series of games, movies and other bits of media you can spend your hard-earned cash on, based on the 1997 classic Final Fantasy VII, created by Square Enix.

On The Lifestream (http://TheLifestream.net), news, updates, articles, translations, story analyses, and anything else found relating even remotely to Final Fantasy VII or the Compilation thereof will be posted as soon as we hear about it, or as soon as you submit them to us. Discussing the news and articles is encouraged greatly – initially we’re not going to add a forum, since Every Other Final Fantasy Fansite always has a forum, offtimes with the exact same basic set of categories, ideas, ideals, and purpose. On The Lifestream, we want to focus on the site itself first, and build up a community based on that site and the articles thereon. Most other Final Fantasy sites seem to have their front page and forums almost completely separated – most people will say they mainly visit the forums, for example, when asked about their activity on a site, with the frontpage often visited only by random visitors. Often, the owners of such sites even admit that they see the frontpage merely as a way to attract new people to the forums.

We do not share these sentiments, and instead strive to create the best of both worlds – a community based on the content of the frontpage. We aim to involve our visitors with the site, by keeping an open staff policy – anyone who is willing to post news, articles, translations, or whatever is free to apply for a position on staff (More on our staff policy in another article – stay tuned for that) – and by inviting the visitors (i.e. you) to actively participate in discussions sparked by news and articles.

PutΒ http://TheLifestream.netΒ in your bookmarks, and check this site every once in a while to update yourself on the latest news concerning the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and other related news. Feel free to register a new account on here, so you can stay updated on the latest developments even easier.

Everything, including websites, are often 90% inspiration and just 10% perspiration, so your ideas are more than welcome.

I wasn’t very well known on ACF (as mpesca10) but I did post every so often and lurked even more, so I’ll admit I was a little lost when the forums went down. I’m really glad to see this site up and running and hopefully it’ll just grow from here. πŸ™‚

Hello. πŸ˜€ I probably wasn’t too well known either as I mostly stuck to the fan art forum and certain fan clubs (Vincent, Lucrecia, Vincent/Lucrecia, Sephiroth), but I want to reiterate that I’m willing to do what I can to help this hit the ground running and stay that way. I’m not very in-the-loop when it comes to news, but I sure can analyze the hell out of many aspects of Final Fantasy 7 and am looking forward to hopefully getting some discussion going again. πŸ˜€

A great idea, indeed! It’s nice to “see” some familiar “faces” after a long time, specially getting envolved into doing something very good. Best wishes to this project. And if there’s anything i can do to help, just name it! πŸ™‚

You can always talk about it at FFOF.nl in the mean time, since there’s no forum. Glad we finally got this going.

@OWA-2: Too bad it will not have a forum yet. Right now, we’d like to concentrate on the frontpage first and foremost, and once that’s up and running, perhaps then we’ll consider adding a forum – that is, if the People would like to have one. For all I know, the People might just say ‘Actually, I quite like having no forum but keeping discussions concentrated on the articles they belong to’

It’s good to see that people haven’t forgotten ACF very much. I’m looking forward to its return. In the meantime, this site will feed our Internet well.

Thank god someone has finally decided to do something about this. This place will be a good way to keep up to date with all FF7 related stuff, and most of us are using the FFO forums now. Happy days are back.

Oh, and where the hell have you been OWA-2? Are you part of FFOF?

Good to hear that there is still a possibility for a forum. Thanks for explaining that to me, Cthulhu.

How are you doing S and G? It’s been a long time uh? Still writing that awesome fanfic?
And no, I’m not part of FFOF.

It’s great to be on board everyone. This is definitely going to be great, and its nice seeing all these old faces…or rather old user names.

hi everyone, nice to see this place up

i must ask though, is ACF gone for good? i’ve been visiting the homepage and reading soldier xs updates and i’d grown sick of the database error page when trying to access the forums, before a few days ago the whole place has just disappeared. is that it? is it gone for good? what about all the posts, threads, user accounts etc. from the forums? will the compilation site, ACF and the forums ever come back? i sincerely hope they do.

and as for mpesca, makoeyes, owa and the rest of you, it is nice to see you guys again and i hope you’ve all been well. peace out x

    @willsgb:
one of the CI members offered to host ACF for SY and it started out going well; the site got transferred to her server but alas, ACF broke the server by being too big.
Eventually, i think communications just broke down between the two

@ OWA-2. im good thanks, dude. the novel’s still on the go. cyntalan has played a major part in getting it up and running again. you can find most of it here for the next while: http://ff7n.taggames.net/

@willsgb. another one in out from the cold. how are you?

@shadow. is it just me or does it freak you out that for the basic fact that everyone here comes from different parts of the world, you and I live about 15 miles apart? that seems kinda weird to me
