On the Way to a Smile re-publishing gets priced and dated

by March 13, 2009 0 comments

SQUARE-ENIX will be re-publishing On the Way to a Smile in Japan on the same day of the release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete on April 16th with the suggested price of ¥ 1,470. It will come with the already published Case of Denzel and Case of Tifa, as well Case of Barret, which was never published at Japan. Along with them, this version will bring four new stories, Case of Nanaki, Case of Yuffie, Case of Shinra and a mysterious one called…Case of Lifestream. I wonder what that one could be about? Big thanks to Kuraudostrife for bringing this to our attention!

“In the contents which in novel FINAL FANTASY VII – ON of 4/16 sales the Way to a Smile” are recorded, ‘the Denzel who is already released compilation’ and ‘the [teihua] compilation’, and ‘the [baretsuto] compilation (recording to the North American edition: When the Japanese first release)’, ‘the [nanaki] compilation’, ‘the [yuhui] compilation’, ‘the God 羅 compilation’ and ‘the life stream compilation’ are recorded, is! With the “life stream compilation” it becomes someone’s story, the shank, after all at the place where it becomes matter of concern the air lith compilation? Or when perhaps Sachs, it does, story of [sehuirosu]…? (Amazon) (information: AC [sure] 252 person Thansk! ) (19: 19)”

    I love net translations. =p

Aww man, why do the Japanese get all the good stuff. Is there any chance of it coming here to NA?

It’s probably the “Case of Shinra” one.

You’re right, there is. I went ahead and fixed the main article to add that. Thank you very much!

Uh… You should make another correction Mako:

“Along with them, this version will bring three new stories, Case of Nanaki, Case of Yuffie, Case of Shinra and a mysterious one called…Case of Lifestream.”

      Four new stories, not three.

    “Case of Shinra”?
Could someone, who understands Japanese, confirm this?

    ナナキ編』、『ユフィ編』、羅『神羅編』そして『ライフストリーム編』

From the original news. “編” is translated as “compilation” on babelfish and I guess it means something like chapter. 神羅<–and this is Shin-Ra.

Hen (編) basically means “book” or “part of a book” and is usually translated as “Chapter”, though it can be translated as “Issue”, “Episode”, and so on. The official English translation used for On the Way to a Smile thus far has been “Case of”. In the case of the OVA version of Case of Denzel, it’s appropriately translated as “Episode Denzel”.

Most likely, Case of the Turks (タークス編, Tākusu-hen) was renamed to Case of Shinra (神羅編, Shinra-hen). Case of Red XIII (レッドXIII編, Reddo Sātīn-hen) was also renamed to Case of Nanaki (ナナキ編, Nanaki-hen).

Case of the Lifestream (ライフストリーム編, Raifusutorīmu-hen) is a new announcement.

this is great news. I’ve been looking forward to some more of these for a while. I’m most excited about case of Nanaki and Shinra. Maybe case of Lifestream is a heavily altered Maiden. Maybe Shinra means Rufus Shinra? Or maybe its just the company in general. I’d imagine it’d follow Rufus and the turks after Meteorfall, leading into AC. A simultaneous release in the US along with ACC would be great. What could possibly happen in Case of Yuffie? All I care about is whether Vincent’s in it or not. Either Vincent or Cait Sith’s gonna be in it. Because when they make these there’s always another member of AVALANCHE who is a supporting character. Denzel-Reeve, Tifa-Cloud, Barret-Cid. If Vincent’s not in Yuffie he may be in Cait Sith

I’d assume Shinra is the Shinra Company, since it seems to have been previously called Case of the Turks.

Case of Yuffie may have something to do with the disappearance of children around Wutai which was mentioned in a phonecall to Cloud in AC.

Also, Cait Sith = Reeve, so technically he was already in Case of Denzel.

Vincent may appear in Yuffies, though I could also see him appearing in Case of Shinra, as he is a former Turk and also rescued Tseng and Elena in AC.

The lifestream one seems pretty obvious to me. Wouldn’t it be about Aeris?

But why name it “Case of Lifestream” and not “Case of Aerith”?

Maybe it’s not foccused on Aerith, but the Lifestream itself, and the change it suffered after Meteorfall(In “Case of Barret”, Cid mentions that Red XIII said the flow of the Lifestream changed, or something like that).
Of course Aerith will appear, but if she was the foccus of the story, they would have named it “Case of Aerith”.

    That’s what I think, anyway.

Case of Lifestream sounds to me like Square wants to make their own canon version of Maiden. Maiden followed Aeris but reviewed lots of people in the Lifestream. This story likely does the same thing, maybe without following a character, hence the name.
