FFVII Advent Children Complete sales figures boost PS3 sales as well

by April 25, 2009 0 comments

On its first week of sales in Japan, FFVII Advent Children Complete sold 272,000 units, 40,000 of those being the Cloudy Wolf PS3 bundle. Not only is this impressive for a Blu-Ray re-release/director’s cut, but it affected the sales of the PS3 console significantly.

The Advent Children Complete PS3 bundle with the FF XIII demo gave overall PS3 purchases a noticeable boost in sales last week in the process. The week before last, 16,701 PS3 consoles were sold. On the release week of ACC however, the PS3 sold 62,527 units, beating out the PSP, Nintendo DSi, and Wii.

Compared to AC’s original sales figures of 420,000 in one week, this is rather good for a Blu-Ray exclusive release.

      No, it actually shouldn’t.

af·fect Listen to the pronunciation of 1affect
      Pronunciation:
      \ˈa-ˌfekt\
      Function:
      noun
      Etymology:
Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin affectus, from afficere
      Date:
      14th century

1obsolete : feeling, affection2: the conscious subjective aspect of an emotion considered apart from bodily changes ; also : a set of observable manifestations of a subjectively experienced emotion

This wasn’t emotion or anything. It was the “effect” or consequence of the sales.

Uhm no, “affected” would be correct. Really.

to affect means to influence and to effect means to cause something to come about.
So in this case, affected would be correct.

The BluRay sales affected the PS3 sales. Thus, the increased PS3 sales were effected by the BluRay sales. :monster:

You know, I’m gonna stop using the stupid Merriam-Webster online dictionary. Wtf.

I looked it up on dictionary.com and got what you were talking about.

      af⋅fect
      1   /v. əˈfɛkt; n. ˈæfɛkt/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [v. uh-fekt; n. af-ekt] Show IPA
      –verb (used with object)
      1. to act on; produce an effect or change in: Cold weather affected the crops.
      2. to impress the mind or move the feelings of: The music affected him deeply.
      3. (of pain, disease, etc.) to attack or lay hold of.

I’ll go and correct it :mon:

You lot should really take possible spelling mistakes to the forums, you know :monster:.

@topic, it didn’t get as much sales as the original, it seems. How’s the BR player penetration in Japan right now? ‘Cause I could imagine that not many people would buy it if they didn’t have a BR player. That, and the fact that it’s more expensive than a DVD and whatnot.

Blu-Ray is getting more popular in Japan now, now that the format war is over. It hadn’t really caught on all that much, but now it seems that it’s gaining popular. They’re embracing it.

Mmm, and cheap-arse BR players should start coming out soon, as well as ‘budget’ BR discs from the first generation.
