Magitek armour returns in A Realm Reborn (via Explosion)
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn can be considered as a real version 2.0 of Final Fantasy XIV. A Realm Reborn will pick up right after the ending of the plot of the original game: a cataclysm has struck the world and a lot has changed for all its inhabitants. The cataclysm gimmick will be used to introduce a lot of new content: an all new plot, quests, items and gameplay features. Character classes will be increased and players will be able to explore never seen before areas.
Among all the additions to the game, this one will probably make Final Fantasy VI fans happy: A Realm Reborn will include Magitek Armours, big bipedal robots fueled by the power of magic. A couple of screens have shown their final design in the game and while they still haven’t been fully implemented in the game, it’s certain that they will be in as confirmed by Naoki Yoshida on the game’s official blog.

Lightning Returns cracks the Top 5 Most Wanted (via Examiner)
The upcoming multiplatform title, “Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII,” has been inserted into a top five most wanted list. According to a report by Gaming Everything on March 11, the latest issue of the Famitsu Japanese gaming magazine disclosed that the sequel is the fifth most anticipated video game in the Japanese region. It is the highest Playstation 3 and “Final Fantasy” product on the list. You can check out some screens from the role-playing game in the slideshow at the top of this article.
“Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” will be released sometime in the autumn season for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The sequel to “Final Fantasy XIII” and “Final Fantasy XIII-2” features Lightning as the only main playable character. It would also signal the end of the storyline from the trilogy.

Chocobo creation contest winners are announced (via Siliconera)
Back in January, Square Enix held a “create your own Chocobo” contest for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Square asked fans to, using a medium of their choice, create an artistic rendition of a Chocobo, with FFXIV merchandise being offered as the prize for winning. This past week, Square picked ten winners out of all the entries they received. You can view the creations of the ten talented winners below.
We’d pay good money for this Chocobo bodysuit (“onesie”), which we’re very fond of. If you’ve got a creative streak, or even if you don’t, why not take part in our forthcoming Final Fantasy art event?
