Lifestream duo collaborate for Final Fantasy VII web series
Do you remember the live action Final Fantasy VII film that was being planned last autumn? As we reported in our look back at the year, the project was unable to secure funding, but instead found a new lease of life as an online series. This week saw the announcement of the first season’s screenwriters: they are Xander Keurvorst and Maurice J. Gallagher, better known around these parts as Lifestream members Mr. Ite and S & G! Both are known for their Final Fantasy VII fan fiction; amongst other things, Mr. Ite has written The Jenova Project, a novelization of the complete story of the game, while S & G’s best-known work is simply called Final Fantasy VII, which takes in the events of the compilation as well as the original game.
Keep an eye on this Lifestream forum thread to stay up to date with the latest news from the web series, and for more information, check out their Facebook page.
Biggs and Wedge: The Dynamic Duo
If you’ve played, well, just about any Final Fantasy game, including VII, you will probably have noticed some characters by the names of Biggs and Wedge, or perhaps slight variations thereof. In the English translation of Final Fantasy XII, for example, they took the guise of two Imperial soldiers called Gibbs and Deweg. Have you ever wondered what the connection is, and how the tradition got started? If so, we’ve got the answer for you, courtesy of Lifestream member Jiro, who has kindly allowed us to republish his article Biggs and Wedge: The Dynamic Duo. From their Star Wars origins to their numerous appearances in the Final Fantasy series, Jiro’s got it covered.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ite is wondering what you think of Biggs, Wedge and Jessie (from Final Fantasy VII) over on our forum!
Voice actor teases Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX localization (via Polygon)
Voice actor and musician Jesse McCartney posted a photo to Instagram today (which has since been removed) teasing that he is currently doing voicework on what appears to be a localization of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX. McCartney posted a photo from a recording studio where footage from Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX was shown on a monitor. The image was captioned with: “For all you ‘Kingdom Hearts’ Fans. Recording the next chapter! #KingdomHearts #Roxas #Gamers.” Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX was first announced last year as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. The game is a bundle of remastered Kingdom Hearts titles and was announced for Japan only. It is yet to be announced for North America or Europe.
